Looky What My Neighbor Let Me Fondle

How'd the action feel? Did you try some snap caps?

You mentioned it was stored in a dresser drawer without holster, I bet that may be a nice way (short dessicants and cosmoline etc.) to store one... let those socks and undies soak up extra moisture?

I bet there are more guns in sock and underwear drawers than there are in gun safes. I used to keep my revolvers in my underwear draw until I had to keep my underwear in a plastic bag next to dresser. Then my wife MADE me buy a gun safe. She got tired of rifles and shotguns cramed in the closet and leaning in every corner of our bedroom. And of course, I always kept my favorite pistols in the night stand and less favorite in the underwear drawer. She did me a big favor! [Oh, I forgot, hanging on the walls, too.]

A now passed away buddy of mine had an old Colt 44-40 that was used in the Bank Robbery in Coffeeville KS by a member of the Dalton Gang on 5 October 1892. My friend had bought it from a Doctor in the 1950's, and had a Letter with it. Per the story the Colt had been collected after the Bank Robbery/Gunfight by U.S. Deputy Marshal Heck Thomas who was persuing the gang, and arrived after the fight was over.

It had been cut down to app. 4-3/4" and a dovetail front sight installed at some point in it's history. No idea where it went, it did not make his gun sale after he passed away.

The old Colt's can have a lot of history.
