Looking to get a new .45

I was in your situation recently and knew I wanted a .45 but wasn't ready to dive in to the 1911 platform yet.

I settled on an FNX-45 in dark earth.

The three fifteen round magazines sold me on it.

Happy hunting!:)

Size wasn't really an issue. As I've said earlier I felt the Gen3 G21 was to small. I prefer my pistols to have more of a palm filling grip. I probably should of gone more in depth on how my rentals went. With the G21 I just wasn't a fan of the gun. I'm probably just not a glock kinda guy. With the FNX my issue was poorly that I shot it very poorly. In my hand it felt ok. If anything it was to short. The width was fine and I didn't mind it but the gun felt very empty in the palm. I didn't have a chance to shoot it with the bigger backstraps though so I'll have to handle it again when I go to try some of the german made guns. I will say the FNX has a very aggressive stippling to it. I only put a box through it and it didn't eat my hand up but I definitely noticed it more.

I'm leaning towards the PPQ45 right now just based on the feel. Shooting it will be a more deciding factor though.

I love my 9mm CZs, but think the 97 is terrible compared to its competitors. It's just massive and clumsy, yet has a smaller capacity than other double-stack .45s like the Glock 21. It's also rather expensive.

I think the PPQ 45 is my favorite of the double-stack striker .45's, followed by the Springfield XD 45, the M&P 45, then Glock 21.

Hammer-fired, I prefer the FNX-45 slightly to the Sig 227; it's really a toss-up. The Sig felt better in my hands, but the FNX shot better at the range. I have not shot the HK45.

Might wanna check out the G41 Longslide...
which also has different grips than the Gen 3 Glocks...

And just to throw you an oddball...how about 3rd Gen S&W metal pistols??
My big ole hands LOVE the CS45 I got last year :)

Note the fatter Hogue grip which comes standard on these...
soaks up recoil like crazy and fills my long-fingered hand!
