Looking for bolt action .223

Not to throw a wrench in the mix! But dicks sporting goods here in Ohio has REM 700 adl varmint scope package for 449.99. U can get them from 223 22-250 243 or 308

Found a very nice "used" (LNIB literally) CZ 527 M Carbine .223 (shorter barrel, iron sights) for about that price not too long ago and their mini mauser actions are nice. I'm assuming that sort of price is not unusual (used) as such (new I think they're around 650-700 before tax).

Most have set triggers (push forward on the trigger for a super light release) as well.

Only thing is they're detachable magazine fed (vs. internal box) and usually have walnut stocks (vs. synthetic).

Steve When you change the stock call Savage and see what the stock torque at in in pound. I had the stock off of my Savage 243 it shot 1/2 at 100 yards before I took it off. When I put it back on it shot 11/2 at a 100 yards called Savage and they told me to loosen it and torque. them back to 1/2 at 100 yards. GOOD LUCK

The Savage Axis. Low low price, very accurate and reliable.
I would have said the Ruger American, but it doesn't come in .223, not yet.

I've owned a few Savages in .223 over the years. The most recent, a hog hunter. Smooth, accurate and inexpensive (under $500).

Then I shot the Mossberg MVP. Contankerous bolt, wobbly magazine and 'sigh' ... the Mossberg=cheapoo reputation...

But the wobbly magazine functions flawlessly - and is an AR-15 mag, no less, the contankerous bolt locks up positively, and the el-cheapoo slings lead with incredible accuracy and a $529.00 price (Bud's).

Ba-Bye Hog hunter, Hello MVP!

savage axis .223

Got one two years ago to teach the wife and kids to shoot while keeping it cheap and have as a coyote gun for me. Was a little skeptical at first because I got it cheap and it wasn't the big heavy "rifle" I was used to. I now love it and so does everyone that can pry it from my wife to put a box through it!

I have 5 Savages and all have a different INCH pound setting. Call Savage and give the the S# of your gun and they will help you out. GOOD LUCK
