Looking for Anti-Squirrel Air Rifle...

Just because Cabellas doesnt sell a CO2 powered Silver Streak - doesnt mean I didn't have one. This was '94.
Got a 94 B.S. Catalog?

Model F (1975-1976, 1976-1992, 1992-present) Velocity: 515 fps The first CO2 gun made by Sheridan. Similar
to the Model C in design , it used 12-12.5g CO2 "powerlets". Available in both nickle and blue finish, the
earlier production units had a large solid aluminum rod which filled the action tube with a ligher small diameter
steel rod following a few months after and is still used today. This was the only model which a small quantity
were furnished with maple or ash stocks made from an outside supplier. It was dropped quickly due to poor
quality control.

RWS Model 48... 1100fps with .117 pellets..

The slower velocity ones (700-900fps) are VERY quiet!

Dead [Black Ops]

Well, I've more or less narrowed my choices down to a pneumatic power plant under the assumption that it's quiet and reliable (my Chinese gun has turned me off to spring piston powered air rifles because it always sounds like it's ready to break... I like the recoil, though).

Probably in .20 or .177 because I want a fairly flat trajectory to ensure hits... a .22 might be better for kills, but not if I can't hit. Besides, should be fun to brush up on head shots... ;)

A scope seems to be a must, but I'm having a bit of trouble finding a cheap 2-7... most air rifles can be bought with a 4-15 which seems a little too powerful.

I'm torn between getting a higher class Sheridan "just because"... or being economic with a cheaper Daisy that I think could probably do the job. Is the performance of those Sheridans really that much better? ARRRGH! ;)

Dead, I only checked briefly, but all the RWS Models I've seen run between $350 and $900 (that is, fully tricked out)!

MTAA, thanks for the links... you can find slightly cheaper ones at Popularlink.com (AK-47 for $65 but the Tech is definitely cheaper). The second rifle is the one I have except in .177... the scope rails are messed up so I can't hit squat with it. Otherwise, it's a very powerful rifle.

Go ahead and get the 4-15 scope. This isn't like deer hunting. ;) You'll be taking head shots while they are momentarily still, unless you can hit a running squirrel in the head ... and, if you can, you don't need advice from any of us. ;)
