I'm looking for a rifle to pair with my S&W K-frame revolvers,,,
I want the rifle to use the same .38 Special cartridge as the handguns.

I know of the various reproductions of the Winchester or other lever-action rifles,,,
I know about the H&R single-shot Handi-Rifles,,,
And I know of the Ruger M77 rifle.

I've done a Google search and couldn't come up with any other options than those I have already listed..

Do any of you good folk know of a rifle I haven't heard about?

I had thought .38 worked in .357 lever actions, such as Rossi, Marlin, Henry, etc. Does it not? OTOH, maybe that was what you meant by Winchester reproductions.

One must be careful in lever guns though,,,

Some of them will shoot .38 Special rounds,,,
But only if loaded one at a time.

Something about the action not working with the shorter cartridges.

I e-mailed Uberti and they told me that was the case,,,
With their 187? Winchester reproduction .357 lever rifle.

Anyways, I was hoping that someone would know of a different model rifle,,,
One that I wasn't familiar with.

I seem to remember a bolt-action rifle in .357 other than the Ruger M-77,,,
A friend of my youth had one his grandfather had given him,,,
It would have been new somewhere around late 1940's.

Search your memories my friends,,,

I wonder if T/C makes a .357 rifle barrel; they certainly have .357 Contender barrels, so it's possible...

Just checked, T/C makes Contender rifles in .357 and .38 Special.

Edit: Yet another search showed those are only available in Contender pistols, not rifles, sorry...

Thanks Mleake

I should have remembered those beauties,,,
In fact a friend of mine is a Contender lover,,,
I'm almost positive that he owns a 357/38 barrel.

Still, I'm hoping someone will know of a different rifle,,,
I would love a repeater of some kind,,,
Other than lever-action rifles.

Rossi 92s are great, variously called 92 and 1892 depending on the importer-distributor (for your Google, Gunbroker etc search) over the years starting with Interarms ("Puma") in the late 70s-90s, followed by LSI (Legacy Sports Int'l "Puma"), EMF and Navy Arms in late 90s-2009 or so, and finally Rossi itself (owned/operated by Taurus. Braztech) since. Some of the .357s are case-length sensitive regarding .38s, often rectifiable with qualified smith tuning. A limited number of "discrete" .38-only chambered guns were made/imported by Interarms.
