Looking for a reason to buy a gun....

1. They're still making em.

2. It's still legal.

3. You love your wife (or GF, or SO, or your dog, or the 10PM weather lady :D)

4. The refrigerator light burned out.

Need I go on?

May God bless,
Dwight

Well, do you have any critter problems, that could be solved by either a new caliber, or a new type of gun?

Actually, there is this @#$% squirrel!!!! Unfortunately, a gun can't be used to resolve my squirrel issue :(

I have an air rifle for sale ;) (for the squirrel)

If you dont reload that might be a good thing to start.

You are posting in the handgun section so maybe a longrifle is next.

Or a suppressor for one of your current guns.

1. You don't have enough.

2. You need back-ups in case of insurgency.

3. You ran out of bullets for the last one.

4. You want to try a different color gun?

5. The last gun you bought accidently, not realizing it was for leftys and you're a righty.

6. The last gun you bought accidently, not realizing it was for rightys and you're a lefty.

7. It's your birthday and you want to buy yourself a present.

8. It's your wife's birthday and you want to buy yourself a present.

9 It's your anniversary and you want to show your wife how much you love
her by buying a gun to protect the both of you.

10. I don't need no stinkin' reason !

I look at my bird feeder as a squirrel feed plot. Don't get upset, you have dinner right outside your window. Get a good pellet gun; I use a Beeman .22 cal with a 3x9 scope, (not a .17) use about a 14 to 18 gr. pellet (hollow point) and you're in business. :D

Favorite Calibers:
  • .45 ACP
  • .50 cal. Muzzleloader
  • .270 Winchester

you need to get back to your roots and get a black powder gun!

you need to assess the direction the gun community is going and get a polymer gun.

you want to be part of a cult so buy a glock.

you want to be part of an elite group(cult) so buy a 1911.

you want to be like the video games so buy a "hk. because you suck, and we hate you".

your going out west, you'd better buy a wheel gun to fit in.

theres too many (ducks, grouse, turkey, pheasant, etc...) you'd better buy a shotgun to protect your family.

theres too many (deer, hogs, elk, bear, moose, etc...) you'd better buy a rifle to protect your family.

Reasons? I don't need no reasons. I don't have to show you any stinking reasons.

Reasons? I don't need no reasons. I don't have to show you any stinking reasons.
(thanks to actor Alfonso Bedoya in "Treasure of the Sierra Madre" (1947, Humphrey Bogard) as Gold Hat: "Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges."

Do you reload? Why not reload some previously used reasons? Some are recyclable.

"I need a spare (whichever gun is closest in type to the one you want to buy)."

"I need one just like this other one, but in a different barrel length."

"This one is a good investment."

"This one is unique, unlike any other I own."

"This one is for you." (This reason is dangerous. You could wind up not actually owning the gun. May lose others, too, if your spouse, parent, kid, develops the same passion for the sport as you.)

I want a 7.5" 480 Ruger Super Redhawk to pair with my 7.5" 454 Casull Super Redhawk. Ostensible reason is to make ballistic comparisons between loads. I hear the 480's recoil "character" is different from the Casull and would like to compare. I have a Chronograph and want to do the whole scientific inquiry thing. Have you tried that reason yet?

Lost Sheep.

You could use the same reason some guy who plays golf uses to justify buying a $200 driver. When he has a nice set of clubs already.
Or a fisherman that buys a new $300 dollar fly rod when he already has a couple of others.
Becuse they wanted them.

better than loaning money to some corporation (investing in stocks)

so they can continue to give the big cheeses million dollar bonuses.

Here's one: Because prices are going to go up significantly very soon and you have to act now!
(I don't know that they are going up significantly, but that's reason enough for justification. :D )

Reason? We don't need no stinkin' reason!

When did they make a law saying you needed a reason?

How about - I want it.
