Looking for a quick opinion....titegroup vs longshot in 9mm?

I'm kind of surprised that no one recommended Accurate#7, as it was actually developed for the 9 mm. It fills the case nicely, and makes very uniform loads.

I have been using 4.0 to 4.2 grs of TiteGroup to push Berrys 115 Plated RN bullets and 4.5 grs of TiteGroup to push 115g Hornady XTP bullets. No problems in my Glock 19 or my wifes M&P9c

When in doubt try just a pound first and see how you like the performance.

I prefer titegroup but want to try power pistol in the near future. I hear good things.

Building titegroup and Longshot loads....

Titegroup im loading from 4.2 down to about 3.7 because im not liking Hodgdon's website data showing Berry bullet 124 gr 4.1 max.....hmmm....even though that is a slightly different construction than Xtreme bullets and i run 1.15" oal.

Nathan, I'm loading the 124gr Berry's with HP-38. Hodgdon's data for this is 3.9 to 4.4gr. They also state a OAL of 1.150 while Berry's states 1.160". Right now I'm at 1.155 and 4.1 gr of powder with room to go up. So far I like this load.

So it appears the Titegroup is quite a bit hotter/faster than the HP-38.

So it appears Nathan is already loading both powders so I just hope he reports back his results.
The Berry's bullet Hodgdon list is the hollow base which I would assume would develop lower pressures than a flat base bullet. Also as mentioned is the difference between what Hodgdon and Berry's lists as an OAL.

Hotter - yes. It's energetic stuff. Gets your gun hot fast. That's why I only use it for plated (or jacketed) bullets. It's so hot, it seems to lay down a lot of lead.

Faster - no. At least from my experience, it seems to be just a tick slower than W231/HP-38. Just a tick. From many of my work ups, it seems that I can get a little more velocity from TiteGroup than HP-38. And on the other end, TG soots up and starts to burn crappy well before HP-38 as you turn it down. It's un-scientific and I have no pressure measuring equipment of course; but that's been my experience.

I have found that TG is rather slow compared to its fast burn rate contemporaries. Of the fast powders I use, here's how I rate them from fastest to slowest:

Nitro 100
V V N-310 (virtual tie with N100)

Bullseye

W231/HP-38

AA#2
TiteGroup (virtual tie with AA2)

Test loads are done....testing today. Small wrinkle is I went to stock up on Longshot and the legs was out...possibly indefinitely...

Longshot provided best accuracy at the top and bottom of the spectrum. Best groups were at 4.6 gr about 1.3" @ 15 yds.

Titegroup had 2 great loads of 3.5 and 3.7 gr. Best group 0.6" @ 15 yds.

I think I'll go with Titegroup and leave Longshot for 45 auto.
