Looking to buy a new handgun to throw in the truck. Wanting to keep it kinda cheap (Preferably under $400). Was looking at 9mm but am open to other calibers. I was thinking something along the lines of the new canik tp9sa or a sig sp2022. What are some others y'all would recommend? Thanks for the help. And roll tide!!

I'm thinking of getting a TriStar C-100 in .40 S&W to tuck between the seat and console in my car. Do you need something that size or a full size? Do you like steel, alloy, or plastic? Do you need a rail?

I was thinking a full size handgun with a higher capacity. As far as steel or polymer, it doesn't matter one way or the other. No need for a rail. This gun might also be used for plinking occasionally as well.

For a truck gun don't overlook the Ruger SR series. My SR45 is my daily driver now.

The new SR9E or whatever would make an even better gun at around 350 bones.

Heck, I would look at a used pistol for a truck gun. You can most likely grab a used Hi-Point or a SCCY (make sure the SCCY is a 2nd Generation) for under two hundred bucks. Both have a lifetime of the pistol warranty. This means the warranty is good no matter how many owners. I know SCCY is a no questions ask on a warranty claim, and I think both will pay shipping to and back from the factory if there is a warranty problem. The SCCY only comes in 9mm. and you can get a Hi-Point in both 9mm and .45 ACP.

Just a thought.

$150 buys you a used Hi Point. I don't own one but I haven't yet met someone who actually did own one that didn't have good things to say. There was a recent thread on this forum about Hi Points. The general opinion was that they are butt ugly, kind of clunky/heavy, but very accurate and durable.

Ruger SR9. Great pistols at a relatively low cost. Get it in stainless since it will probably be sitting unatended for long periods of time.

I just bought a real clean S&W 5906 and extra mag for $350, I like the Ruger or Smith VE series too, you buy odd ball brands you get odd results. Another good gun might be Tisa's 1911's.

I had an SR9C Ruger as my car gun. Then I switched to a Star M43 that jammed and sprayed bullets everywhere. I now have a Ruger Police Six. Fits nicely where it goes!

If you are going to leave it in the car unattended, get a Mattel. That way the punk who steals it can't do any harm with it.
