Looking for a great carry revolver?

If limited to one carry gun...
Would use S&W Model 19, round butt, 2.5" inch barrel.

However, in real life, I carry (and conceal) all the frame sizes.

+P and +P+....
Refer to PEAK pressure generated. Not to total pressure applied to the projectile. Hence, not directly related to bullet performance. Often just marketing hype, but tis a valid warning to use caution in guns of less than full strength.

Good point, Sam - I should have mentioned that in my post on pressure. Thanks for the reminder. Also, I 100% agree with your "one carry gun" choice, except to broaden it to include its Model 66 stainless "cousin". Love those K-frame snubbies!

I've been shooting a friends Model 19 2.5" rd butt. CRSam is right--getting right fond of it. Prefer dark guns for carry--just me.

Again, thanks for the exellent information!

You folks have really helped in narrowing down what I need to go look, feel and fiddle with. At this point handling the different revolvers to see which one hits the warm and fuzzy spot is all that's left. However, I am reserving the right to ask more questions.

Preacherman, thank you for your in depth explaination! Oh, what wonderful pics all you have! They have reminded me that I need to pull the digital out and get after taking pics of my different firearms for insurance purposes! I have em on film now but, nothing compared to the digital quality and detail!

Has anyone tried these Grips? Look nice!

A lot depends on if I can have a concealing outer garment. If the temp allows a light jacket, unbuttoned shirt or vest then I can carry my .45 Colt Mountain Gun.

Stoked with big silver tips and a speed loader in the pocket it instills a lot of confidence. On the trail or hiking I switch over to hard cast 255 grain SWC's. The Kramer horsehide belt scabbard makes its weight comfortable even for long periods of time.

The Spegel coco bolo boot grips give a firm grip but keep printing to a minimum. Like so many handguns I have found the barrel length is easy to hide as long as the grip is chopped off.

Nice pictures Riddle.

Although it's a personal choice, I'll second the N frames being concealable. I often carry a .40 Hi Power in Kramer IWB #2, and it really isn't THAT much different in size than an N frame. Grins, I know that spare tire I'm trying to lose is quite a bit bigger than the N frame, and not nearly as comforting either. Except maybe for my wife, she calls my spare tire her "insurance policy"......

The roughness of the action from the factory required me to do an action job with complete smoothing and polishing of all internal parts. Then I had my gunsmith polish the chambers and knock the sharp edge off of the rear of the chambers for easy reloading and to prevent binding on extraction. Other than that it is box stock except for the grips which are Spegel coco bolo.

My two cents worth is to find a Model 13 Smith, three inch. If it has to be shiny, a good hard matte hard chrome finish would fill tht requirment.

I am having a 4 inch model 65 fixed up that way, three inch heavy barrel, mepPro tritium front bead, and an Olive Drab Birdsong finish.

I have an N frame I carry daily. I'll agree with Riddle of Steel. Mine is a .41 magnum M&P in a Kramer belt scabbard or IWB. Concealing a larger revolver does require changing how you dress a bit, but I carry this revolver year round. With a good belt and holster combo, it can be comfortable enough to wear all day.

Wish I had some pics.
