Looking For A Eye Pleasing 9MM

Beretta Elite II

My first love was indeed the Beretta 92 series - classy and sleek.
Then I learned of the Elite and Elite II productions. It was like lusting after your girlfriend's hot sister! Two tone. Dovetailed Novaks, Front and Backstrap checkering, Skeletanized hammer, and don't even get me started on the Brigadier slide! So I had to dump the 92 and sweep up the Elite II. And they lived happily ever after...

Browning and then everyone else

BH Power -- the older and bluer the better. Get a true Belgian and lay some $100 wood on that puppy. So pretty you won't want to shoot it.

Also rans

Beretta 92

Sig 210

S&W 9mm revolver (forgot the number, 640 maybe).

My suggestions...

...in alphabetical order:

1) Beretta 92fs Inox. Have one. The Italians are the best designers, from an appearance standpoint, in the world. DA/SA. Until I got the SA 1911 9mm, the most accurate pistol I owned. Reasonably priced and an excellent value.
2) Browning Hi Power. Have one. Timeless design. SA only. Very accurate. Large capacity mags readily available. Hold their value well.
3) Sig P210. Want on. Another timeless design. Old world craftsmanship. SA only. Legendary accuracy. Very expensive and relatively rare.
4) Springfield Armory M1911A1 9mm. Just got one. Another John Browning design-'nuff said. SA only. A high quality, good looking, well finished and appointed firearm. The most accurate pistol in my collection. I really enjoy shooting this thing.
5) Walther P88. My next purchase. Very good looking, IMO, in a utilitarian way. DA/SA. Reputedly, the highest quality production 9mm ever made. Accuracy on a par w/ the P210. Very expensive when new, and still so. Very rare.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the above.

If it has to be a fullsize 9mm try the CZ-75, or the high end STI.
If it has to be a compact I vote for the P7.

The best looking 9mm out there in my opinion is the Browning High-Power. Nothing else even comes close. Top that with 50 years of proven combat experience in military combat all over the world along with extensive use by law enforcement, and you have yourself a gun of your dreams. You mentioned the 1911. Browning designed the HP for the most part (he died before it's completion and debate rages about which features were actually his). Full capacity and beyond mags are readily available for very resonable prices (I use the South African 17 rounders). Trick parts abound. Some of the top gunsmiths in the world cater to the HP clan. I personally like the rich deep blue. I have one that I have never shot with that deep blue and adjustable sights. I also own the two toned Browning High Power Practicals and one beater surplus HP but for looks the blue is the way to go. Stunning grips are avialable to set it off. After owning hundreds of guns I decided that I needed a 9mm. For me, there was only one option. Since then I have bought another half dozen nines, but if I could only own one it would probably be a HP (If we forget looks, I would go with the Ruger P89, but I don't forget looks).

The most eye appealing nine without a doubt has to go to the Luger. But, it craps out in the reliability department. Sooooo, for a really radical, good looking, reliable, accurate ISPC gun that will wow your friends... here goes... are you ready for this...

WALTHER P38!!!!!!

Just think, shooting ISPC with a true proven combat veteran!!! What a rush!!!!!:D

Now, if that don't grab ya, the second choice would have to be the Walther P5!! Based on the tried and true P38, but refined into the ultimate single stack combat nine!!!!

There you have it.

denfoote, you got me on that one. After all that glowing praise of the High Power, I have to admit that the best looking 9mm of all time is the Luger. I didn't think about that one before I posted. But.... The P38 ?
I own two P38s but I don't consider them good looking. I bought the first one because I have always wanted a Luger but didn't think it would ever happen. I figured the P38 is the next best thing as far as history of that period is concerned. It was a police trade in from the '50s. I bought the second one recently. It was made in 1944 and has all the Nazi markings. It is new in box but is very rough from the late war time production, machine marks all over it (which to me, enhanced it's desirability).

9's don't get much sexier than this! I present to you my CZ 75B with hand made Birchwood grips from Hakan in Norway!

Speaking of Walther's, I really like the looks of the P88 Competition. You don't see many here in the States, but in Europe, I believe they are pretty popular with the IPSC types.

I'd have to say my full size P88 is pretty nice looking also.

P99

If I had the money I think I'd get one of these if I wanted to finish a collection. Never shot one and have never even picked one up but yo've got to admit they look really cool.
