Looking For A Eye Pleasing 9MM

Hello,

I am looking to purchase a 9mm to complete my collection for the time being. My requirements are as follows:

1. Reliability
2. Full Size
3. Eye Appealling
4. Competitive Shooter (IPSC)

I have been looking at some customs however, I just started to browse. I have seen a Springfield Armory Loaded 9mm and Kimber.

It doesn't have to be a 1911 but it does have to look good.
All suggestions welcomed .

Thanks in advance,
Paul

 :)

I'd recommend you look at the Browning Hi-Power. It's a timeless classic, with graceful lines and a grip profile that is imitated but rarely equalled. There are faults, to be sure, a stiff, generally heavy trigger pull being one of them, but that is easily ameliorated. All the examples I've owned have been very accurate and easy to shoot well, from WWII production to an example made in '96. Expect to pay between $450-$600 for a NIB piece depending on finish and variation.

Browning High Power would be a good choice. The Beretta Elite II is another very good looking full-size 9mm.

I, for one, think the Steyr M series pistols are quite attractive.

Here's the signature graphic I use in forums that allow you to use graphics in your signature.

How important is #4 and do you only want to be able to use it in IPSC or do you really want to be competitive with this gun? 9mm is scored as minor in IPSC and the only division where this won't be a handicap is in Production where the only guns allowed are DA/SA and DAO. A Glock 34 would be hard to beat if you really wanted to be competitive in Production.

More curves than Marylin...

Walther P99

All that, and a box o' chocolates. Accurate, fast, light, adaptable (3 differently contoured backstraps), many features (ambidexterous mag release, decocker, fire status indicator, chambered round indicator) and best of all... affordable!

I'm thinkin' Beretta 92 series or a Browning Hi-Power. Those are the 2 best looking 9mm's there are.

Best looking 9mm?

To my eyes, the Beretta 92 Series is the best looking 9mm.

I've never liked the looks of the BHP, though I do acknowledge that they are very good from a mechanical/functioning point of view.

I'll cast a vote for the Beretta 92 series, either FS or Compact, blued or Inox (Stainless) for meeting all your specifications.
Take Care

I'll second a vote for the Steyr M series. Phenomenal ergonomics, great trigger, natural pointer and quite accurate.

Of the classics the BHP is tough to beat.

good lookin' guns

Hk P7M8, hard-chromed with brushed flats,
CZ 85 Combat, nickel plated, with checkered rosewood grips,
Browning Hi-Power in highly polished blue, with walnut grips.

The P7M8/M13 is already an unusual weapon. High cost and lack of availability equals a barrier to entry in joining the club. Hard chromed P7s are really nice, especially with brushed flats. So, you start with an uncommon weapon, and make it more distinctive. Reliability and accuracy are both excellent. The coolness factor is really high. (But I don't know if you'd want it for competitive shooting though.)

The nickel CZ 85 is a really nice looking handgun, with clean lines. The black sights, ambi slide stop, and ambi thumb safety accent the nickel finish. The design is extremely accurate, reliable, and well proven. Good platform for competitive shooting.

The Browning is ...... well ......... a classic work of art. 'Nuff said.

IMO you cant go wrong with a Browning Hi-Power Silver Chrome edition. It has one of the most illustrious matte hard chroming jobs you will ever find along with the signature Browning gold trigger. It is very high on my "next gun" list.
I also like te P-99 very much. It has a strange blend of futuristic wonderbox looks and classy tuxido like simplicity. The Millinum Edition is especialy attractive. Has some tastefull off-white inlay engraving on the slide and comes in a very slick looking velvet lined breafcase. I was going to buy one, but my Mustang had a sudden need for monitary attention. Once I got the 'ol Mudstain fixed and managed to save another $800 up, I had found something else <sigh>. Sooner or later, I'll pick one up.
