Looking for a cheap, durable 10mm

I have a eea witness elite match bought it a year ago for 600 puls tax new. It is single action only with a double stack mag 14+1. The trigger pull is amazing. So light I don't think I would use it for ccw. Most accurate pistol I have shot. Have had no problems with it and use some very stout handloads. Did upgrade the spring though. Only complaint is that it puts the empty cases in orbit. Makes them very difficult to find for reloading. Very nice looking gun comes in a very nice locking case.

Maybe too agressively coleaning, too much lube, or someone hing was done in the coating process.

I took it down completely when I cleaned it. and when I was at the range, I only shot around 25 rounds out of it at a time to ensure that if I ever needed it, it WOULD function properly and I kept everything in check with it.

I really hope that it was the coating because I really got comfortable carrying the glock and the RIA is nice and all, but too big to carry for what I do.

Question
SO BreakFree CLP is HARMFUL TO polymer guns?

I owned a gen3 glock 20 and couldn't shoot it worth a crap... The grip was just so large, it would torque in my hand when firing/recoiling. I would absolutely love another 10mm but I am going to wait until I am older and make more money and get me a nice 1911 in 10 like a Dan Wesson on Les baer.

To my hands there is a big difference in the felt recoil between a 1911 and the Glock 20/21. The Glocks transmit only 70% of the recoil delivered by 1911's on the same ammo.. 45, 45 Super, or 10mm, it doesn't matter, as far as I can tell the results are the same.. the 21/20 are recoil sponges compared to a 1911.

Although you'll get a better grip on the 1911 it will not be a softer ride, far from it.
I'd suggest a Glock 20SF (or the new G40) for you and the OP.

No, it is perfectly fine to use on polymer guns. I have a AR-15 with a polymer lower that I have used CLP on for years and it shows no sign of decomposition or any change at all. CLP is the only thing that I use now adays.

I would not use Hoppe's No.9. it contains ammonia in its bore cleaners and I have heard that it will stain or tarnish nickel finishes and some alternate techniques of Blueing.

With polymer you have to be careful on what solvents you use to to clean the gun. There are some things (like oven cleaner/carb cleaner/even some gun cleaners (break free by safariland) that's are very hard on the plastic and would probably break it down and weaken the plastic if used too many times. 400-600rds is not even broke in. You sure haven't shot your carry gun that much in the time you've owned it

I use CLP religiously to clean and lubricate all of my guns and there has been no indication in any structural weakness in any of my firearms. and I try not to shoot my carry guns often and I keep them clean as a whistle. when I do shoot my CC guns, it is purely for practice and multiple target shooting. that way if anything ever happened, it would function and I would be used to the firearm enough to where I am "comfortable" in any situation.

I luv 10mm. I would not hesitate buying an RIA but I wanted the double stack so I went with the Witness steel. Nice gun. I'm glad I got it but I did change out the guide rod with a conical one to keep wear down and an 18 lb. recoil spring in order to handle the hotter Underwood ammo. Even when you get into the higher end RIA with the double stack mag, the Tanfoglio Match Elite seems like a better option to me. I'll probably end up with both eventually. By the way, I got a different spring/follower for my Tanfo mag and it holds 15+1. That's real fire power without an extended mag.

For what it's worth, I see a lot of talk on the 10mm forum that leads me to believe that Glock is really good for 10mm Supposedly they handle everything you feed them and last forever. No modifications necessary. I didn't go that route simply because I don't care for Glocks. Still and all, I may end up getting one sooner or later.

G20 or G29 are the only ones in your price range. If money is unlimited then the Sig P220 Elite in 10mm.

G20 3rd gen needs a barrel with better support at 6 o'clock and a stiffer recoil spring. Have not shot the Gen 4 G20, maybe they've fixed those things.

I'm not a 10mm expert, but (for once) I second the Glock recommendations, if you go new.

I don't know about the Witness line, but I've read that the Star and S&W 10's were more durable designs than the 1911 pistols. Both are out of production.

This could be self defeating ammo cost rise could slow the amount of shooting. If you're reloading then this is not an issue. I still get sticker shock when buying any factory ammo...

I am not a Glock fan yet I still own the G20 simply because there isn't a better hi-cap, cheap, and durable 10mm.

I have already purchased the RIA and it is a dream to shoot but I do not think it is right for me to carry. it is rather bulky in the Galco holster that I got with it. I hope I can resolve the problem with glock and I hope it was just a poor coating job on the slide that caused the malfunction.

And yes, I purchased some reloading dies for 10mm but have yet to get the powder and bullets. I have the primers already.
