Other than the Ruger SRH Alaskan, which I hope will be available soon, does anyone know of a GOOD .45 Calibre DA 3" or 4" wheelgun?

You could look for a used S&W 625 Mountain Gun in .45 colt.

The current production is a model 25 in blue.

Good Luck...

Lemme throw in the Colt New Service revolvers as well.

You can get them in 45LC and 45ACP (aka Colt 1917).

The Anaconda was also made in 45LC.

I can find the .45LC, but not the .45ACP

Greenfurniture, That SRH is sweet, but too long for an old fart like me...I'm looking for 3" or 4".

Thank you all... :)

The 45 acp S&W 625 in 4" is an excellent choice. Everybody who shoots mine falls in love with it. I believe they made a 3" version but they arn't as common.

Taurus Tracker 455 2-1/2".45 ACP

Ruger's website states that they were released Nov. 11, 2004, so they are out and about, just gotta find them.

There's one on Gunbroker, but it's way overpriced at $875.

If it really what you're looking for, you can always order it and wait. Here is what they should be priced for; SRH Alaskan

Good luck! More demand than supply right now.

Thanks

Hey SEG45...My dealer has called all over the place today looking for that Alaskan for me. No go!!! I can wait. :)

But I did decide, and purchased a SW 625JM, .45ACP, 4" Brl, wood grips... :D

It been a while since I've owned a .45 wheelie. I think I'm gonna enjoy this one... ;)

Nice choice in the S&W especially with wood grips, they're very nice revolvers. And if you already own pistols in .45 ACP, even better.

Just wait in a year or 2, the Alaskan's will be popping up in the Want to Sell/ or trade threads. :) (maybe)

Taurus Stellar Tracker

I carry a 455 Taurus - 2 in. five shot and love it. For the money you can't even come close. I have 2 S&W 25-2s, one magna ported - shot one at Gunsite in 1985 and came home with an E certificate given to me by Col. Cooper so I have shot .45 ACP revolvers for a lot of years and while the Taurus is not as smooth as the Smith, it is still a good value an excellent for CCW.

The sun finally came out today, and I finally got to shoot my new SW 625. :) BOOM! what a nice gun. Accurate as hell at 25 yards, even with my eyesight. Very managable recoil, very light SA trigger. So light in fact, I fired it twice when I didn't intend to (pointed at the target, of course  ) DA heavier than I like, but a keeper... :D

People really speak highly of the moon-clipped S&W 625 in its various guises. Big bore, accurate, cheap ammo, fast reloads, quieter than a .357. Great IDPA gun, great house gun.

Along with the various carry J-frames, I'd say it's Smith's most desirable revolver in current production.
