Looking for a .22 semi auto, so many choices....

After owning and plenty of shooting with both the SR22 and the PPQ .22, I ended up selling the Ruger after finding the Walther better in pretty much every way.

SR22: Was way pickier on ammo.
PPQ: Greedily digests brands my Ruger wouldn't, like any kind of Federal bulk. The PPQ has been so much more reliable.

SR22: Fully capable of hitting the broadside of a barn.
PPQ: Not Buckmark accuracy, but still excellent for a duty-style .22. Rewarding shooting experience.

SR22: The handling is nothing special, feels kind of puny.
PPQ: Fantastic ergos! A touch lighter than my PPQ 9mm, otherwise same great ergos.

SR22: Medicore trigger at best.
PPQ: :D

SR22: Same old 10 round capacity.
PPQ: 12>10

I finally got a chance to look at a Victory.... I'm thinking the next time they go on sale, I might just have to have one.

Pulling the slide back on it is just plain smooooth...... the trigger is almost glass-rod breaking good. (has anyone ever broken a glass rod? Just wondering)

Takedown? ONE screw. One more screw and the barrel is off the receiver.

The magazine drops out of the frame under it's own weight.

The only "drawback" ? Weight. It weighs about like my 5.5" MkII stainless... perhaps slightly more.

I've heard that accuracy is outstanding.

Win, win, win....

Oh, yes.... I heard that Volquartzen (sp?) is making aftermarket barrels of every configuration imaginable for this pistol already.

"Today I bought the browning buckmark. I know everyone was waiting in suspense. Thanks for all the help everyone."

Congratulations! You will love it. My friend shot mine recently and enjoyed it so much that he bought one for himself. You will get years of enjoyment out of it.

On my Mk II's I don't usually remove the receiver from the frame for cleaning. The pistol can be cleaned pretty thoroughly with these two parts still together. If I do remove the barrel/receiver from the frame I have an extra assembly pin to use for aligning the two.

Today I bought the browning buckmark.

I too am pretty sure you'll be happy with the gun.

I like my Ruger Mark II and wouldn't trade it for a Buckmark but I wouldn't trade a Buckmark for a Ruger either. I think the Buckmark has a little more snob appeal and I do NOT mean that in a bad way. Maybe it would be better to say I think the Buckmark is slightly more 'refined' than the rough and ready Ruger.

Looking forward to a range report.

P.S. It might be hard or maybe even impossible where you are at but I've always found it fun to take some of every different .22 ammo I could get my hands on and see which one my new gun liked best. Here's hoping you can do the same.
Good luck.

I've had my Mark II bull barrel for about 20 years. It's been rock solid and a great shooter. Reassembly after cleaning can be a PITA until I remember how to do it and then it's no big deal.
