Looking for a .22 semi auto, so many choices....

Hi, I am looking at possibly getting a .22 semi auto for primarily target practice. Not really for anything else. My local shop has a few choices around $400, just wondering if anyone thought either was better than the other. I did try a Browning buck mark ( I think that's the name) and it seemed pretty decent, accurate. Below are other choices in that price range, and if anyone has any other suggestions for me, I am always willing to listen.

The only catch with the buck mark is that they aren't selling one. Someone there let me try one. I can try another store though.
 
I have the basic buckmark and it's a really nice gun. I also have a Ruger 22/45 I like better. I took out the mag disconnect and added a volquartson sear now the ruger shines. Both are winners though. Good luck on your quest.
 
If you can get one . . .

I have a Buckmark Contour 7.25. It shoots one inch groups off sandbag at 25 yards. Gotta love it.

I'm not sure about the 22S but when I sent my 22A in for repair, S&W said no parts were available because the gun was out of production. It was a good little gun for the first 500 rds or so. The 22A is blued and I assume the 22S is stainless.

S&W bought the gun back and sold me a Mod 41. A really fantastic pistol. They made me a very happy shooter. So happy, I am waiting for a S&W PC custom 1911. Good customer service but apparently slow production.
 
The Victory if you are inclined to punch a lot tiny holes in paper but for a really neat all around plinker the S& W m&p .22 compact is about as neat as it gets.
 
Buckmark or Mark III for a full size target gun.

Browning 1911-22 or SR-22 for a compact. They also make a 'long slide' SR-22. neat gun.

I just ordered the Browning 1911-22 A1 because I wanted a smaller, lighter gun than my old Mark II.
 
I chose a Ruger 22/45 Target and removed the magazine disconnect. Love the gun. However, my initial $300 gun ended up costing me $800. It "forced" me to buy a RIA 1911 in 9mm. Both feel, shoot and aim almost the same with mild recoil with the 1911.
 
The Buckmark and the the Ruger Mark X pistols are outstanding choices for a good quality 22 auto loaders. I have two of each and at least one of them comes with me on every range trip.

The best I have shot are the Buck Mark and the Ruger Mark II. They both shoot better than I do. My Buck Mark makes me look like a good shooter.

YOWSER!!! Talk about your upgrade!!!

I've shot the S&W 22A and found it a nice gun but not as nice as a Ruger Mark 'whatever' (as long as the Ruger model had adjustable sights and either the longer barrel or 'bull' barrel).

If you don't mind, how much did S&W charge you to do the upgrade to the Model 41?
 
If this is any indication:
When we were regulars at the rimfire steel challenge matches, about the only pistols folks used were the Browning Buckmarks and the Rugers in all their variations.
When folks showed up with something else, it usually got quickly replaced with one of those two.
Just a thought.
 
I would look at the S&W Victory. I just got one and IMO, it's a solid alternative to the Browning or the Ruger. It's an accurate shooter, with a trigger at least as good (imo better) than both the Ruger and the Browning. The take down is much easier than either. You can check video reviews by 22Plinkster on YouTube.

Also, Volquartsen (spelling?) already has two barrels and a match trigger available if that's your thing. And at least one of those barrels is pre-threaded for a suppressor.

Just saying.
