Longest you have owned a single pistol?

Beretta 92F bought in 86, sold in 98 after over 30K rounds, no problems, looked better than new when I sold it cuzz I had a Metalife finish put on it when I got it.

Glock 17 from 86 to 92, about 20K rounds, looked like hell when I sold it, but it had been through hell too. Broken trigger spring, trigger bar, guide rod, had to have the slide catch notch recut twice...

Oh well, ya never know? :)

H&R 929, 9 shot .22 revolver with 2-1/2 inch barrel bought circa 1984. Thousands of rounds. Thorough cleaning after each each firing session, lubricated heavily in humid climates and sparingly in dry. Much touch-up blue.

Bought new at a gun shop for about $90.00. For reasons I won't go into here, I'd sold or traded off all my other handguns in the 3 years previous and needed a piece badly because I was traveling a lot between Texas and various places in Louisiana. It was all I could afford at the time.

Have a Dan Wesson, Model 12, .357, serial # 232, one of the earliest ones built, w/ 3 barrel set, 6", 4", 2 1/2". Traded a multi serial # .45 auto for it about 1980. Still have it, still shoot it, and it's accurate.

Also have new Kimber Custon target, 3 months old.

Old handguns I still have?

Colt Challenger .22, given me for my birthday, 12 May 1958. Things were mellower back then and no one got too excited about a teenager owning a pistol. Two years later, I bought a Ruger Single-Six and began neglecting the little auto, so in all these years, it probably hasn't had over six or eight thousand rounds through it. The Challenger was used when I got it.

Next oldest I still own is a Colt Government .45, a commercial, 1911-style, not the 1911-A1. I bought it in 1964, while in college. Untold thousands of rounds, cast 225 RNL and mostly Unique powder.

Best,
RR

Purchased a 4" Colt Trooper MKIII in 1969, still have it tucked away in the gun safe. It's 100% blue and maybe 300 rounds down the tube. I don't shoot it, but it was my first center fire revolver. It will be mine as long as I walk the face of this good earth. Shoot Safe....CO

Never saw a gun I didn't
like.

Ruger Single Six .22 bought in the summer of '60. Lost track of number of rounds long ago, but it's still a lot of fun to plink with the ol' fella. It's going to my son-in-law soon and I hope the grandkids enjoy it as much as I have.

The first handgun I purchased was a Dan Wesson 44Mag with the 4 and 8 inch barrels, that was back in 1989. It is still the gun I carry when hunting. With the 4 inch barrel and some good handloads I keep 6 shots on a paper plate at 100 yards.

I've had a LLama 22 pistol for over 20 years(gun is even older, I inherited it when moving into house.) Never have had a problem with it, it is a good little plinker.

Hard Ball,

Curiosity question. Is your .38 HD by any chance marked Oklahoma Highway Patrol? Garst Bros. in Denver had a bunch of those about that time.

I still have the very first pistol I ever bought. It’s a beautiful Browning Hi-Power with adjustable sights. It came home with me in 1968 and has been with me ever since. I paid $149.00 for it at Nagel’s Gun Shop in SA and that was a lot of money back then. I will never sell it. I haven’t used it as a carry gun for decades. It came with a couple of 14 round factory magazines and I still have several 29 round magazines that I bought for it back then.

I have never had to do anything mechanically to the gun as it has always functioned flawlessly (Typical Browning quality).

The finish would be considered “very good” condition.

Probably put a least 10K through it the first 10 years that I had it and it has been retired, resting peacefully, since then.

I'm thinking about taking it with me when I go. <snif>

My first was a High Standard Military Citation Supermatic in 22 lr, new in 1967. Holster wear at the muzzle and a little around the slide and frame around the grip. All original. A couple of the original magazines have broken their bases is all. Gun shoots super well and has well over 10,000 rounds through it. Crisp and clean trigger.

Hey Hard Ball, tell us about the two times that your S&W save your life, if you would like. I know sometimes we just don't want to ever talk about those times, so it is ok either way.
