Long Time Shooter, First Time Revolver

I have 586s and 686s and I like 'em.
Just throwing another option out there.
See if you can stumle on an older used smith 627 6 shooter (Not 8 shot performance center.), 5 1/2" maybe a 'model of 1989'.
The trigger on every one of those I've handled is FANTASTIC.
They are also a little front heavier (More manageable recoil.), are more durable (Pre- MIM.), will shoot hotter stuff because of the larger frame and massive cylinder, and have the ultimate in barrel length for versatility, 5 1/2".
They also had more attention to detail, better workmanship, better resale, wood grips, and were pre-lock and pre MIM.
They are heavy on the belt, but are fine in a shoulder rig.

BTW, you mentioned recoil. Do you also own/shoot autos? In general does the muzzle flip and recoil of a 357 revolver seem more or less than that of a government 45 auto?

I don't own a 1911 and the only type I have first hand experience with is a Llama compact that belongs to my uncle. It's muzzle flip with 230grn hardball was much worse than a .357 or even a 4" .44 Magnum with 180grn loads. Felt recoil on the other hand was no worse than a 9mm. The .357 revolver with a 3-4" barrel will recoil more than most autos (save a .50 AE or something like that) but muzzle flip will be about the same as a 9mm or .380.
