Blue and even red works , but it's when ya use the primer that ya get the full strength. I've stripped hex key sockets when primer is used with red.
I too work in aviation (defense contractor) and we mostly use the purple for electronic componants. It's meant for small fine thread machine screws.

Blue is what I use for scope bases and rings. I won't tolerate screws backing out....
