Living in an apartment

Sorry it took me so long to get back to this post. I've been pretty busy. Thanks everyone for the input. I think the locker is going to be the route I will go. And gonna do my best to keep everything low profile and not being attention to my gun ownership.

I should have mentioned in my first post that the apartment complex is in a good part of town and the complex manager said they don't have really any problem with crime. Mostly, it's for my own peace of mind. Although, you never know anymore.

I asked about over penetration thinking worst case scenario. I'm confident in my ability to defend myself without the use of a firearm and it would definitely be a last ditch effort to even bring one to bear in the apartment complex. With that said, the bathroom door faces to my bedroom and then out an external wall (think open line of fire). I would have no problem locking my door, locking the bathroom door, and then calling the police. Nothing in my apartment is worth taking a life over.

The Zanotti modular safe that was linked above is awesome but it's not for everyone. They are custom made to order, take quite a while and it'll take more than pocket change to get one.

On a slimmer budget, by buddy ordered a SnapSafe Titan and I can tell you from personal experience that the seller is very easy to deal with, quick and well done shipping, extremely easy to haul up to his 3rd floor apartment and assembly was child's play, seriously.

It occupies a space in security between a common "gun safe" and the $169 metal key-lock locker sold in sporting goods stores.

The SnapSafe is also not cheap, but it's not Zanotti kind of money.

When I lived in an apartment, I had to buy a full gun safe for me to feel that my firearms were secure. I was foolish enough to let folks around me know that I had guns. And, there were too many latch-key kids hanging around after school while I was working late. So, I bought a good gun safe and hid it inside of a bedroom closet. I could have/should have mounted it to the concrete floor, but never got around to it.
