List of states that allow 223 for deer

Current Minnesota minimum cartridge rules for deer - it has to be at least .220 caliber and center fire ignition and that is it ! In other words , my .22 Hornet rifle is legal but I intend to stay with my 45-70 , 30-30 , and .243 rifles for deer ! :)

Georgia is any center-fire .22 caliber or larger with no restriction on case size, technically .22 hornet is legal to hunt with. I believe there is some constraint on the bullet having to be expansive but a .223 would be deer legal here in georgia.

Would I hunt deer with .223? Probably not, I just think there are better deer calibers.

In OK you can use .223 but it must weigh 55gr or more. OAL of atleast 1 1/2 inces and all .22 cal firearms must not be caple of holding more than 7 rounds of ammo. Must also be of either soft point or hollow point ammo.
