Liberty Watch: Taking the Fight to HCI...new info.

Our parent company, Liberty Watch, doesn't much like HCI and Company; we like bullies even less. When HCI becomes the bully, we really get our panties in a wad.

So when HCI started making legal growling noises, we took notice. We tried to politely reason with 'em. As expected, we received silence in response. We politely gave 'em a bit of time to regroup....then we politely filed suit in Miami Dade Federal Court.

By the way, while reading your HCI article at Common Sense regarding Sen. Kennedy's deception during the Ashcroft hearings, I noticed you were using the NCHS table that breaks down age groups into certain categories (15-19 being a key one).

This is a great table because it certainly does a lot to show the fallacy in what Kennedy was claiming; however, a large portion of even those gun deaths are happening to legal adults who can be drafted, enter into binding contracts and vote (18-19 year olds).

By lumping those gun deaths in with the 15-17yr old set, one might get the impression that there were more early teens dying than is actually the case.

The link below is to the CDC Mortality Form for research and can be used to request all kinds of information including user-definable age ranges. If you like you can break down the information into more detail than the standard CDC/NCHS reports give.

The important thing, for getting custom ages, is to use their "advanced options" section, and select your own range. It's also important, when you do this, to turn OFF the "Age-adjusting." When on, this adjusts the RATES (not the total numbers) to compensate for changing populations in the various age groups. However, you can't use it with custom age sets. You also need to set the first "Output Groups" selector to "Year." Otherwise, you will get the total for the range of years you selected. Finally, you need (I think) to use the _bottom_ "Submit" button.

I am proud to be associated with TFL. Rich, take it to those scumbags. In my opinion there is no lower form of life than a person that would deprive another of the ability to defend themselves.

I am so proud that I am a member of this forum! Its time these facists get a taste of their litigious medicine.

P.S. I echo the sentiments of others. Let us know what we can do - write letters, get the word out, help financially, etc.

I suspect that many of the eight thousand some registered TFL members are like myself--we read alot and post only every so often. I also suspect that there is an even larger number of lurkers who log in every day for information and friendly chat.

I'm proud of my association with TFL and am ready to contribute whatever money or time I can to this most worthy fight. I further suspect that most members of TFL feel the same way and will contribute when the time comes.
