Lever or pump .22

You made the right choice with the pump.:)

Henrys look nice, but they are Zamak construction and I have a prejudice against any gun made of Zamak. Seen too many wear out quickly, crack or corrode.

I want both

Thanks again for all the input. I should be picking it up on Friday. I do want BOTH rifles, .22's are so much fun to shoot. I chose the pump not because it is rare, but because I see so few of them in the local gun shops around me I feel it is easier to find the lever at a later date. I did want that Winchester however shop owner is keeping it for himself, just teasing everyone I guess by having it sit in the first rack all alone. Vividia your comment about always putting a smile on the shooters face is the MAIN reason I chose it. It just looks like a bunch of fun to shoot. I just now am getting back into shooting after 25+ years away from it. My wife is hooked after her first time. She is very tiny and afraid of recoil so .22's gave us over 4 hours of fun her first time out. Now she will ask me "hey can we go shooting tomorrow?" She has quite a few friends who are all looking forward to going for their first time as well. I already have the plans in my head a bunch of tin cans, balloons, knock over targets and spinners. Load up my old Marlin 995, the pump, both SA revolvers and the SR22. Give them equal amount of rounds and see who hits the most targets. Thanks again for the comments I really appreciate it, I will post a pic of the rifle once I pick her up.

In 22 pumps I have:
Colt lightning
Remington 12
Remington 12a
Remington 121
Remington 572
Win 62A
Win 61

I think the best you can do is Win 61 that is scopeable. I have paid from $450 to $620. $450 was not scope able, but I made it scope able by milling out scope mounts from scratch.

The next best is the Rem 572. I have paid from $180 to $320

The nice thing about 22 pumps is that they cycle 22 CB shorts quickly. That is a lot of firepower making the sound of a BB gun.

I would vote for the lever. I love my 22 Henry. Probably one of my favorite guns. And i'm thinking you should pay around $300. Dicks and Cabelas used to sell them for around $270. Might be up a little right now

I am a fan of the older guns. I would get the pump. They are still making the Henrys.

My .22 pump is a 1914 Savage with a Lyman 1a tang sight. We were shooting tin cans in the back yard just Sunday with it.

The best CB ammo is Remington CBee22 hp. I've killed many a squirrel with them. I've also used CCI CB but the round nose just snicks through without killing as cleanly unless a solid head shot.

My levers handle all 22 ammo fine except my Marlin 39 which doesn't like shorts or longs.

When I was a kid I had a Winchester model 62 my uncle gave me. I used to get some good meals of frog legs with it. I paid it forward and gave it to my nethew.

Rossi 62

Last year I bought a very old Rossi 62 SA off a guy for basically nothing. He was liquidating just about his whole collection. Paid $100 for it and it was in pretty good condition. It's a copy of the Winchester and it's proven to be one of the funnest guns in my collection. I just never get tired of shooting it. I'm all about the .22 pumps now.

kcub,
I've never seen those type of CB Caps. The ones I used to get were the CCI and not they were not very impressive. Those Remington's look pretty serious!

Western action aside, a friend had a Winchester Model 62 that I thought was about the best for ariel trick shooting. I'm not sure if it was the tapered barrel, or the fact that it was the gun I was shooting when it all "clicked" for the first time, but whatever it was I could do no wrong with that little gun. I could hit pennies and such with others, but I was a solid 7 or 8 out of 10 with this one.

HUH! "Trick" shooting they call it. There is no trick, you've got to hit 'em.

22 years ago I was a big proponent of REM CB LONGS on the internet.

They disappeared and CCI CB LONGS appeared.

Then CCI CB SHORTS turned out to be better for expansion ratio [more power for the noise]
