I recently purchased a new Remington 700p TWS off of gunbroker from a large reputable seller. After inspecting and cleaning the rifle I was looking forward to the range. Everything was in good order until I looked through the scope. Disappointed is an Understatement. The reticle looks like Hellen Keller inserted it. Halfway between a + and an x. I have heard mixed to good reviews on their customer service and hope it is the latter. I will NEVER purchase a Leupold without looking through the glass prior to purchase. Unacceptable for an optic in this price range.

I'm assuming the elevation and windage adjustments knobs/turrets are square to the rifle; and you're letting off steam.

I would also assume the "reputable seller" isn't... Unless they offer to make it right.

Sorry, you are mad at Leuplod because a used scope you bought wasn't perfect?

Stop whining and send it to them. They will fix it, even though you bought it used.

I have yet to hear "mixed" reviews of leupold's customer service. Contact the seller & start there to be made whole monetarily. A busted scope is not worth the price of a working one regardless of warranty. Then, take Leupold's customer service for a spin and form your own opinion.

As I read this you purchased a rifle off of Gun broker with a Leupold scope from a large reputable dealer. HOW is your issue the fault of Leupold?? Maybe the scope was not mounted properly on your rifle, maybe the reputable dealer had some scopes to sell as a package and just threw them on. Your reference to Hellen Keller just rubbed me the wrong way. deadeye

Some good suggestions already.
What may have happened to your scope since it left Leupold is unknown.
Try giving them a chance. It may help to speak pleasantly to the Leupold rep when you call them.
It has been my experience that Leupold is a shining star of customer service.

Here's another twist to the story. Is it a Leupold Scope, or is it a leupold from china?????

There was a influx of offshore copies that were marked leupold and were just that a copy. Not the same quality as the real ones.

Pay the $10 to ship it back insured to Leupold and have it fixed. That is all it will cost you, unless you upgrade the reticle or something else. I've sent two back one that I bought new and a used one. They had both fixed and sent back to me in less than 5 weeks.

The used scope had a scratched objective lense and was missing the turret caps. I expecetd to buy the turret caps but I never received a bill from Leupold. They fixed the scratched lense, replaced the erector and caps and shipped it back to me for only the price of shipping it to them.

I sent a scope to Leupold for repair, some years back. I got an email maybe ten days later saying the scope was repaired and on its way to me.

But I'd picked it up at the post office the day before. Helluva note when the USPS is faster than email. :D:D:D

I too have seen this canting or clocking of the reticle on a few scopes but never as extreme as you are describing, especially on a Leupold. If this was my scope, I'd have no choice but to send it in for repair. Clocking is one reason that I never level on a scope caps, just level the rifle and set the reticle to a plumb-line, on the wall.

Be Safe !!!

I saw one of those recently. It was a copy of a Leupold that dealer cost is about $1,200. I can't remember the model.

It looked EXACTLY like the real thing. It fooled everyone that looked at it.

None of us knew it was fake until we called Leupold and gave them the serial number.

So I contacted Leupold and their customer service rep was quite helpful. I will be sending the scope in for a repair and will hopefully have good news to report. Apologies to anyone offended by my earlier remarks. No excuse, but I was a little peeved last night. Thanks for the help and comments.

Leupold stood behind their product and offered to make it right, however, the issue ended up being with the mounting and someone new to optics rather than the reticle or Leupold. I will absolutely purchase from them in the future and owe them an apology. In addition being made in the USA doesn't hurt either. Crow doesn't taste too well. Thanks for the help.

Owning up and apologizing can be a rare thing these days, especially on the 'net. No need for eating crow... thanks for admitting a mistake!
