Lets talk wildcats and odd cartridges

The H&R are way cheaper than the encore and have the same ability to switch barrels easily.

True they are cheaper but there are not any makers of aftermarket barrels for them. Your best bet if you are going to use this platform is to learn how to stub a barrel. I know over on GBO forums a few guys have sacrificed a few 12ga barrels for this.

If you are re-chambering you might be stuck with a twist rate you really dont want. The other option is re-boring the barrels you get but, you are going to wind up putting more money into it than you would spend on most custom Encore and Contender barrels. Another thing is the barrels are not always a direct swap as the T/C barrels are, the usually require a bit of fitting if you buy a used barrel, if you buy direct from H&R you must send your frame in to be fitted.

I realize you probably have all the skills to be successful doing this kind of work. If you get the T/C you'll spend more time shooting and less time tinkering on installing your barrels. Just my $0.02!

well im basically planning on doing stubbed recievers for most if not all of my builds. I will be collecting barrels to cut off and bore out then fit a new barrel blank in the stub in whatever caliber and twist i would want. The encore is a neat set up but personally i find them uglier than sin and kinda expensive. One day i might end up with one but not high on the priority list. this really isn't here nor there pertaining to this thread so bring on more wildcats.
