Hello Friends: I like all your military hardware. I've used my 1903 Springfield, on the hunt. Bought it in Hawaii in 1970 from the territorial guard. USMC with a re barrel in Dec of 43. My Step Dad took a 1903 off of Okinawa WWII and later had a local sportatize it. I lived on Okinawa as a Military dependent in 1950. He was transfered to Fort Lewis in Washington State and Hunted with it, until he retired in 1960. I was 13 at the time and had shot a 1903 in Military school. I wanted it, and was really hurt when he sold it while I was away in School, and bought a auto Remington 30-06 carbine.at the PX. I always had the task of cleaning it after the hunt. I have a question for all of you military hunters. How do you get around the max load? I mean In Texas, with a rifle, when you hunt you can only hunt center fire and 5 round capacity, so a M-1 Garrand is illigal, Thats why I use the 1903 Springfield, and I was able to get a 5 round clip for my Mini 14.when I varmet hunt. every state has different hunting laws. Idaho for example requires Centerfire only but has no limitation on capacity other than the federal 3 shot rule for waterfowl.

in other cases like Montana where I grew up there is no limit you can hunt with a 22lr if you wanted, they do not outlaw rimfires.

in other states like Illinois you can not hunt with rimfire or and centerfire who's bullet diameter is less than 23 cal, meaning 5.45x39mm, 221, 222, 223, and even 22-250 are illegal for hunting.

It's a 1944 Husqvarna. Put a mojo adjustable aperture on the rear. It's a pretty good shooting rifle.

I only have a couple milsurp hunters, and you all know what these rifles look like so pics aren't really necessary. They're stock and haven't been sporterized; I take some shots at feral hogs every once in a while.

1941 MN 91/30 - bayonet might come in handy if they charge?
1943 Inland M1 Carbine - with THIRTY-ROUND magazines *gasp*. It's really just a backup in case of emergencies.

morning 001: Ya the rim fire in Texas is no limit on cap. But the Rangers are really hung on the 5 round Cap. and that includes one in the chamber. I believe.I've hurd stories about a Ranger is the Mineral Wells area, that fine a hunter 250.00 for having 6 shots in his Weatherby, That is one in the chamber and 5 in the hole, so there pretty serious at least he was. But that hunter also had a hand held high power 14 volt airplane landing lite in his jeep. as Paul Harvey would say (Now you know the rest of the story) Be careful shoot clean Sunny

you can hunt anything for coyotes. deer is only archery, shotgun, handgun an muzzleloader.

Dad's old Remington 1903, he sporterized in the 50's. The chamber was badly pitted so we recently rebarreled it with another original military barrel and put a newer scope on it. Very accurate.

Sporterized M1898 Springfield ("Krag-Jorgensen"), with an M1903 Springfield barrel, a Hart Arms Co. replacement forward-hinged magazine cover, and Pacific peep sight. The "sporterizing" was done in the late '30s or early '40s, most likely, as the barrel has a 1936 date. .30-40 Krag is a great deer cartridge!

I used the M1 and my brother used the K31 to get deer, the Mosin Nagants not yet but they are sighted in with hunting ammo and will be in the field again next fall.
