Actually, they (at least some Leftists) DO want to take our guns away:

Some snipped, look above

So explain again how calls to ban guns aren't real? Because to anyone paying even a modicum of attention, that's exactly what the Democrats ultimate aim is.

So I'll repeat the original question; what rights to YOU suggest we surrender to these people in the interest of 'compromise'? The 50 BMG? 'Assault' weapons? Handguns? Provide some details to your proposed compromises of our rights, please.

Not saying the above aren't 'real', but like a lot of hyperbole, it's a few politicians stating things that 'rile' their base, make them vigorously nod and pump fists(and get them re-elected). But when examined, it's obvious it's just political posturing. Happens all the time, at all levels of government.
It 'may' be the 'democrats' ultimate aim, but most assuredly, 'some' democrats only, not all and certainly not a majority approaching the percentages needed in Congress or at the state level.

OBTW-Me?
-Background checks for all gun transfers.
-No more 'straw purchases'
-Mental health treatment that raises a red flag(not an auto NO, but a red flag)during the BG check.
-RED Flag laws that can temporarily remove weapons from people 'at risk'.

Describe, please, how you manage to do BG checks for all transfers without creating a registry?

And for the record, straw purchases are ALREADY illegal, and 'mental health problems' (which require any form of commitment) are already disqualifying for firearm purchases, under Federal law.

Can you describe how you plan to square your 'mental health' 'red flags' with due process? Or is that out of the picture in your vision?

Can you describe, in some detail, what 'mental health treatments' you think should be reviewed prior to gun ownership? Is it anyone seeing a medical professional for depression? Addiction? How about fleshing out the vague terms you're using?

Nice link-the NRA is a political organization, certainly. Show me where they've supported the ideas you've proposed, though?
