Let's hear about the Kahr's we know & shoot.!

I shot my CM45 and CM9 last Sunday. My CM45 is my EDC, and the CM9 is my warm weather deep conceal pocket rocket. Both run perfectly, and I really like the CM9. It is just a great little pistol. Im shocked how well it feels, and runs, after almost giving up completely on small pistols in general, after many issues with a pair of Ruger LCPs. Someone above made the comment about the triggers being "ball bearing smooth". Thats a good description. Mine have taken around 500 rounds to get to that point, but the two Kahrs I have shot to that round count, both have great smooth triggers.

I have always liked Ruger and Smith $ Wesson, and have a few of the small carry guns from both of those manufacturers. I like the fact the Kahr pistols have stainless slides, and stainless magazines for less money than blued slides and magazines from the big manufacturers.

My daughter is almost 21, and will be encouraged to get her CHL and carry a pistol. I already know what I am going to recommend to her. The Kahr CW9 is perfect.

There are plenty of Kahr threads on this forum. I have a PM9 and have had no trouble with it. From what I can tell the 9mm Kahrs seem to have less problems than other calibers.

It's one of the few 9mm's that can be pocket carried

EDC a P380 in back pocket wallet holster. It had a few hiccups in the first 50 rounds, currently @ 300 rounds on the clock, works every time. Very accurate at 15 yards. Decent cartridge with XTP ammo, reliable, love the way it disappears in a pocket, and I can hit what I aim at. What's not to like?

Four so far...

First was a PM9 I bought about ten years ago. Bought it used, night sights, 2 mags, for $450 IIRC. It suffered from the "barrel peening" issue that afflicted a certain s/n range. Sent in the "top half", Kahr replaced it, and it's worked perfectly ever since--any ammo, any time. Carried it every day for three years, then experimented with other things for a while, but fortunately I never sold it, and as of a couple years ago, the PM9 is back in my pocket every day.

I bought a P45 about a year after the PM9. Worked perfectly with any ammo, and I carried it in the winter for a while.

The opportunity to buy a PM45 came up, and I took it. I though it would be a perfect combination of the .45's power and the PM9's size. It was a bit picky about ammo, may have had a short chamber. I figured out that it wasn't "that much" smaller than the P45, and the capacity was only 5+1. Sold it to a friend who loves it and carries it.

Just recently added a CW380. Been loading my own ammo for it, with only moderate success so far; works fine with factory ammo.

K40 here. A real challenge to learn to shoot well, and I'm not sure I'm really there yet after 1,500 rds. I would call it a 'worthwhile' exercise, but would say the price one has to pay to carry this small gun is considerable. A real learning experience.

It shoots dead nuts though, and despite my choice of the wee little 40SW for occassional carry, I like it for those times when you just feel you need 'something' and are feeling adversaries won't likely be serious. :)

KAHR CW40

I have a KAHR CW40

Pros:
Shoots well, hits what I aim at and where
Small size makes for excellent CC weapon
Long trigger pull, no safety

Cons:
Grip too small for my big hands, fixed with HOGUE slip on and extended mags.
Kicks like a mule
Has a tendency to drop mag while firing (more on that below)

Overall not a bad lil weapon, as for the mag catch issue; I sent it back to KAHR for this issue when it was still under warranty, they replaced the mag catch and sent it back. It was fine for a while, but started dropping the mags again, sent it back again (along with the mags I use), they did the same thing, replace the catch, do you see the pattern here? I keep a few mag catches on hand for when it starts to misbehave. It used to be my daily carry, it now spends it's life in it's box in my safe and has been replaced with a compact BDE II 9mm & semi-compact BDE II 45ACP, both of which are awesome..

My CCW is a K9 (police trade in). Reliable and plenty accurate for CCW.
1st small complaint I have is the bump on the trigger guard. My finger rubs on the bump during trigger return while at recoil that after approx 50 rounds, it starts to be a bother.
2nd small complaint - spare mag does not seem to hold the top cartridge securely. Fixed by keeping spare mag in pouch.

See post no. 14. I have no idea why Kahr insists on the "bump". Form (style) trumping function?

dgludwig,
Iam tempted to polish the bottom inside of the trigger guard -- what do you think?

A few months ago, I purchased a CT40 as a new EDC gun. Wanted something lighter than the CZ 97B I had been carrying. The Kahr weighs 1/2 of what the CZ weighs and 8 rounds (7+1) of .40 is good for the size since it is a single stack. I love the grip size and angle. Normally carry it in a High Noon shoulder rig with 2 extra mags on the opposite side. I forget its there.
Have had a few feed problems during the "break-in" process but most are attributable to corroded cases, I use range pick-up cases for reloading.
Love the trigger. I think it's about as good as a striker fired, DAO can be. Recoil is snappy but it is a light pistol and I'm shooting 180 gn bullets over a hot load of Longshot powder. Up to about 350 rounds without cleaning and it keeps on going.
Overall, very happy.

I would be very tempted! I doubt that removing or reducing the "bump" would adversely affect the warranty or the integrity of the trigger guard. But you go first. :D
