Lets Be Honest

Oh yeah, and rims get caught under the ejector star (generally tougher to clear than most auto pistol malfs), or bits of junk get under the star (all but impossible to clear except in good light and in the absence of other junk that might get in there while trying to clean it out). Bullets jump their crimp and tie up the cylinder. A guy on another forum claims never a malf, in any gun he owns in over 400,000 rounds (or was it 4,000,000? 40,000,000? Can't remember), all due to good hygiene and maintenance.

My first gun was a Glock 19 and I have put about 10,000 rounds. Jammed once, but a friend of mine who shot it put his thumb behind the slide and caused it to jam. Other than that, no malfunction. Sold that to get an HK USP .45 full size and no malfunction, totally perfect. Bought a Taurus pt92, only put 100 rounds and no malfunction. Had to sell it because I rushed into buying it and needed money so I never had the chance to keep shooting.

All my S&W revolvers, Ruger revolvers, Glocks and Sigs have been fine. Lucky I guess. Lots of rounds through them too. Not safe queens. Now...let's talk Colt, Kimber, Springfield...my luck with 1911s sucks.

S&W 645,and a 4553 that has fed everything i put in them.Only revolvers that i ever had any problems with a 100% performance was .22's,but that's just the beast.

Never malfunctioned (technically?).....only 2 for sure....

Glock 19 - it had FTE and FTF while using lead in a polygonal barrel (I didn't know at the time) When using FMJ or my KKM barrel, its perfect.

The only other one thats been flawless and will probably continue to be...

H&K MK 23 Socom - fired approx 30 rds so far but the previous owner fired 500 to 1000 with no problems.

I've only put 150 rounds of .32ACP through this total, but since it's 90 years old and I haven't had a malfunction, I think it qualifies

I would say my SiG P226 never had one, but truthfully I have seen it malfunction twice- both in someone else's hands. never malfunctioned on ME, and I think the person who was shooting it when I saw it malfunction was producing the effect by virtue of their actions; not the fault of the gun. But I have seen it fail. My Colt Series 70 has failed too- with lousy mags. With good mags, never. My Colt M1911 from 1918 has never failed on me either, but I have only shot 58 rounds through it total so it doesn't count, I think. In the realm of 'why doesn't it fail more often', I have a P-22 that has malfunctioned about a dozen times (not counting .22 that fail to go off, of course)....I lost count of how many rounds...over 5K though. 12 failures per 5,000 from a P-22? I can accept that :)

I have/had four flawless semi-auto's;

Stoeger Cougar 8000 - approx 2500 rds (Traded)

CZ 75B - approx 3000 rds

Beretta 92FS - approx 3000 rds

(recently purchased a Cougar 8045 used, so far 150 rds fired without a malfunction).

I have a 1959 vintage Government Model that was bought used and lightly customized (sights, trigger, etc.) that digested 20,000 rounds without a malfunction that wasn't ammo related. Split case mouths would occasionally get by my quality control inspection and sometimes cause a failure to feed if the bullet set too far back during the feeding cycle. I quit counting at that point but it hasn't malfunctioned since then. I've owned several other 1911 pattern Colts that didn't malfunction but none of them stayed around as long as the above listed GM.

Owned a Wilson KZ-45 that I shot 4500 rounds through with no malfunctions. Sold it to a friend who still has it and hasn't had any malfunctions.

I also have a Glock 21 that I bought new and added a Bar-Sto barrel so I could shoot my cast bullet reloads. Counted to 20,000 and decided it too was reliable. Sold it when the G21SF came along as it fits my hand better. The new one hasn't malfunctioned either. I also have a 2nd Generation G22 I bought used and after adding a KKM barrel (for shooting reloads) has been malfunction free. I've only shot a few hundred rounds through it but don't expect it to malfunction either.

Wife has a Kimber Compact Covert Stainless that was bought used. It has never malfunctioned in probably 2-3,000 rounds. She also has a Glock 19 bought used that just works, no matter what you feed it.

My first duty gun, a Model 28-2 S&W revolver started hanging up in rapid fire DA after about 9 months of use and carry. Switched to a Series 70 Government Model and never went back to a revolver for duty.

Shot a Model 25-2 in revolver practical pistol matches for about 3 years. Shooting cast bullet reloads, I had to clean the chambers, cylinder face and B/C gap after each stage to keep it shooting smoothly and reloading easily. After 3 years of competition (all rapid fire DA shooting) the end shake, timing and lock-up all needed attention.

YMMV,
Dave

CZ75....1000+ rounds and not a failure of any kind.
Ruger Security Six....would hang up on double action every 4th or 5th shot. Fixed by local gunsmith......I hope.
Ruger Blackhawk 45 colt........wouldn't even turn the spare 45 acp cylinder, again fixed by local gunsmith.
Charter Arms 38 fires sometimes, sometimes it doesn't......my fault for shooting a couple of boxes of +P through it I guess.
All firearms purchased new in box by me and all problems were from day one except for the Charter Arms.

Stainless Walther/S&W PPK/S... not one failure since I've owned it (it was a hand-me-down from Dad's collection), despite the cruddy condition it was in when I got it back after the recall "repairs." I can't make that little gun fail; I have as much faith in its performance as I do in my revolvers. It's eaten everything I've ever fed to it.

Had a few stovepipes with my 908S, but they were all user error.

My Commander had a few issues when I first got it... failures to load at the bottom of almost every mag. Turned out that the mags were at fault; no issues since replacing them with Wilsons.

I have a Taurus Judge that malfunctions on occasion (usually when using ribbed 410 ammo)

But I have never had a problem with any of my Smiths or my other Taurus.

My Glock 21sf has 2k thru it without a single ftf. Well except when I tried a Magpul 30 round mag. At 20 rounds the mag spring sticks and causes a ftf. Not counting that.

My Glock 27. I use a 40s&w barrel & a 357sig barrel with the stock mags with no ftf's. Also use a 40-9 Lone Wolf conversion barrel with factory 9mm mags with no ftf's. Even with the Advantage Arms 22LR conversion kit I've had no ftf's yet.

My Taurus pt111 mil pro has 3K plus thru it with no ftf's. Taurus does make reliable guns.

OK ... my Kimber UCII has never had a malfuction of any kind with maybe 800 rounds through it ... ditto my newish Springer XDm-9, with about 600 ... on the other hand ... I bought a Taurus 617 which continually locked up after two or three cylinders; took it to a 'smith, who for $85 fixed the incredibly tight barrel-cylinder gap and gave it a glass-smooth trigger job ... a great gun now, but fail it did ...

My Jericho 941 has had about 1000-1500 rounds in it and it hasn't even jammed. My 1911 had a couple of stovepipe jams but I think that was more my limp wristing or riding the slide with my thumb than the gun itself. None of my guns have had a catastrophic failure though.

I've had one ammo related malfunction in my S&W M&P 45 with about a thousand rounds through it, it was a failure to return to battery, which was remedied with a quick heelstrike to the back of the slide.

My S&W 1911Sc has about 3000 rounds through it without a malfunction. When I shoot cast bullets, I have to stop around 150 rounds to clean it as it gets sluggish, but it has never stopped eating them.

My 586 and my SP101 are both at the 2000 round mark without a malfunction.

I've experienced failures on both platforms. On average, I've experienced more auto failures. I have had one significant problem with each (a Taurus 94 22LR revolver with a binding cylinder, and a Taurus 908 9mm that broke it's extractor).

Every once in a while

My S&W 669 pistol, over 2500 rounds thru it and not a single malfunction. I bought it used with around 100 rounds thru it before I got it.
I've had 2 S&W revolvers that had problems locking up when I first started shooting them. I took them to my gunsmith, he took off the side plates cleaned and adjusted them and now they are faultless.
I had a S&W model 629 that had to go to the factory to get it to fire in DA. The hammer would only drop half way when the trigger was pulled in DA. It worked fine in SA, but wouldn't drop in DA. Never really heard what they did to repair it but it's been working prefectly ever since.
Most of my handguns are S&W's and I got them all used. Most of them date back to the late 1980's or so. A problem here and there is really not an indication of their quality. I think the previous owner of the 3 revolvers tried his hand at gunsmithing and messed them up in the process.
I just bought a used .22 Magnum SA revolver, and every once in a while a casing gets stuck in the cylinder, no big deal just a pain every now & then.
I just own a bunch of guns, like to shoot them and get them to my gunsmith if I ever have trouble with them. Now they're all great shooters and I can trust them 100%.
