I finally get it. We need to take the following drastic actions immediately.

1. Suspend all police chases until a Mental Health Data Base can be set up to determine by radio communications that any fleeing suspect is not mentally deficient.

2. Pass new laws immediatley so that anyone deemed mentally deficient can walk into any retail establishment and take goods or services without paying for them and come back later to settle up.

3. Allow anyone one deemded mentally deficient to flee from the scene of a crime and do not prosecute them unless they turn themselves in.

I'm sorry I forgot that in this new enlightened age truth and justice are always relative and up to the Trial Lawyers association to determine as they see fit when they see fit.

I stand by my guns. If the guy can't function in society like the rest of us, he does not need to drive.

I am going bald. Tough: I can't be a hair model.

I am short. Tough: I can't play pro basketball.

I have Southern drawl. Tough: I can't be a TV announcer.

I have a terrible golf game. Tough: I can't play in the British Open.

My teeth are yellow. Tough: I can't star in toothpaste commercials.

Life is not fair. This guy had no business driving. If he could not even determine that he needed to pay for gas then what makes any of you think he could make a rational call when forced to do so in Chicago traffic?

This is is what happens when a bunch of feel-good liberals try to solve the world's problems by lowering the bar.

If you can't see why I might be offended by your attitude and words directed at me, I guess I should not have been surprised in your first post.

This name calling, twisting the words I used, and the subtle implications are not taking the HighRoad that normaly occurs on TFL.

It appears you think I am the only one you offended with the tone of your first message. I think you might well be wrong.

I tell you that your words offend me, and you just chew me out and start the name calling. That sure doesn't solve anything.

If you still wonder why my impression of Leos has dropped yet another notch, you might consider reading the entire above thread again from a civilians point of view.

I thought the topic could have been more appropriatly titled "Punk @$$ cop gets his (in jail)"

Unfairly attacked!? Doing their job!? I guess that's why the punk cop in question turned himself in on murder charges.

From that article it sounds like there were shots fired before they even made the stop or at least well before they decided they no option but to kill him. They were trying to "shoot out his tires" for crissakes! A little trick they picked up from the movies I guess.

Please try to justify a three dept vehicular chase, roadblocks, a hail of bullets going who-knows-where on the highway, and finally taking a man's life over a tank of stolen gas.

Shoot. Can you blame a guy for trying to get away like his life depends on it? Not anymore, because it might!

Lawdog: No Sprig is not the only one you've rubbed wrong in hundreds of posts... it's just that I've never bothered to speak up... I don't think you can hit "submit reply" without saying something that bothers me.

Moderators, please stop stroking this "we're all on the same team" notion.. We OBVIOUSLY are not! This new breed of cops are the enemy's strong arm.

I started this with NO ill feelings. I started by saying that I wasn't picking on you, and I chose your post just because of the way you authored it.

Your comments offended me. I suspect those same comments also offend others and drive a further wedge between Leos and civilians. Mentioning this promptly gets me chewed out in your next post along with a bunch of childish name calling.

Now I am accused of having some sort of agenda.

You know, twice now you have had the chance to try work out the disagreement, and instead you have furthered the attacks. I tell you that it seems you are driving that wedge in deeper, and every time you come back and drive that wedge in even deeper.
