LCR and Windicator. Man, I miss my Windicator.

I own both and took a bit of a leap on the Windicator. I was looking for a gun to drag around when I was up north camping or backpacking. My requirements were not robust..... I wanted a gun that could digest .357's, went bang every time I pulled the trigger, was reasonably accurate (IE dinner plate sized accuracy at 7-10 yards) and a price tag south of $300. The Windicator delivered. Its heavy enough shooting full load .357's is manageable. I have never had a cylinder lock issue with .357's but I do wipe the gun down if I use it heavy before re holstering. In a place where the gun will get dirty, wet, dinged up, ride on my hip 24/7 (or how ever long I'm up there) this gun fit the bill.

With that said I just recently purchased an LCR 357 and I would be hard pressed to compare the Windicator favorably to the LCR. For the right role and so long as you know what to expect I think the Windicator is a fine gun. Make sure you can inspect the one your getting prior to paying for it and as long as you don't expect too much its worth the price.

OP I'm glad you like your Windicator and got a good example of one. I lean the other way favoring my LCR but both still have a place in my collection and will for sometime.

The LCR looks better, has a better trigger, is easier to conceal and carry but not as easy to shoot, for me anyway. So its kind of a deal breaker because I hold that above anything else. I just shot better with my windicator.
And here's the key.
Just learn how to shoot the LCR better. It's not the gun, it's the shooter.
People limit themselves so much by saying this gun shoots better than the other, blaming the gun.
How is it that one person can shoot the LCR with full magnums and another person can't. It's certainly not the gun, but the shooter difference.

I had a Windicator, It was good for what it was. Was not a good carry option for me.
I am always on the hunt for smaller/ lighter.

J Frame/ LCP/ or a XD's 45 fills those roles.

So for me the Windicator was a bed side gun. Filled that role for a few years.
Until the Model 19 showed up taking the Windicators job.

Sold it and it is now performing the same role for another.

If it was the 4 inch version it would still have a job as a range gun.

They are what they are, a Entry level K frame size gun. Buy one, use it. Then sell it when you move up.

Just got an add from Gander Mountain yesterday. Fifty bucks off on Windicator 357 2". Makes it $299. With the gift cards, and points I have it would be down to around $199. So out of my pocket, with sales tax, about $230. If they don't have one in stock, and order it in for me It will be a little less because they don't collect the local sales tax.
Might have to go take a look!:D
