Ok, so the Taurus is cheaper, but ignore that for now. Which of these pocket .380s would you prefer?

Most people agree that the trigger is nicer on the TCP and it also locks the slide back after the last shot.

The LCP is sleeker and seems just a very tiny bit smaller. It's also made by a fine manufacturer, but I don't assume that automatically makes it better.

What's your vote?

Ruger LCP

I love my Elsie Pea! She goes with me everywhere. She can be a bit snappy, but she's easy to conceal/carry and dependable. Plus, it's backed by Ruger. When this happened, http://www.ruger.com/LCPRecall/, Ruger was very prompt in providing free shipping both ways. Turn around was minimal. And, Ruger threw in a free mag with extended grip and a hat.

I usually carry a S&W J frame, or a 1911 in a OWB holster, but I ALWAYS have my LCP with a Hogue grip cover in my hip pocket.
I carry it from the time I get up, till the time I go to bed.

P3AT. It's the gun the Ruger was copied from, and was the inspiration for the Taurus. It's thinner and lighter than the Ruger, also.

LCP. Great gun, very reliable and accurate for what it is.

It is also backed by a company that really takes care of their customers.

Taurus, from my experience, not so much.

My Elsie Pea has been 100% reliable, plenty accurate for it's intended purpose, very easy to conceal, and after well over 500 rounds I still don't get the complaint about either the trigger, or snappy recoil.
I did add the hogue grip recently. Not for the recoil, but because it gives the gun a better feel without compromising concealment.
As mentioned before, if you want something a little cheaper, go with the Mel-Tec P3AT.
However, if you just prefer the looks of the Taurus, go for it. I am not going to be one to hate on the brand like others do. I have two of their firearms, and have had no problems with either.
The choic is completely yours, and if you can find a range that rents guns, or friends with both, try before you buy is always a good idea.

The trigger is nicer on the TCP and it also locks the slide back after the last shot. Not a direct copy of the Kel TEC. I prefer the Kel Tec 32 myself.

I'm guessing a good percentage of LCP owners never tried a TCP...

the day I bought my compact 380, I think I tried nearly every one on the market... ( at least 8-10 different guns )

I bought what I thought was the best all around gun... I own a TCP

past history of a couple years as my main carry gun...

a)... I still love the gun
b)... The gun functions 100% reliable, even when embarrassingly stuffed with cover garment lint
c) ... the only negative about the gun, & I carry it when I'm physically working to a sweat, is I'm getting some corrosion on the blued magazine button, & it gets a little sticky

don't know if everyone knows this, but it is made in the USA, & it had the best trigger of all brands tested the day before I bought...

I love my Rugers & have many many more than the couple Taurus's I own... but there is nothing wrong with the TCP :)

I am sure you are right. Like many others I have had my LCP since before the Taurus was introduced. The only gun back then to compare it to was the Kel-Tec. Availability at the time was much of the reason for getting the Ruger. But I have no regrets.
I do like buying guns, the wife says too much:eek:, but another pocket 380 really isn't on my list now. If I ever have that urge, I would certainly take a good look at the Taurus.

I don't own either, I will be getting the Taurus pt111 next month. I can't say which is better, but the new "striker" fired LCP's has a much much better trigger than the older model. but, I like Taurus.

10,000 rounds!!!^^^ hard to beat that, especially when all the other mouse .380 didn't make it that far, and this is half the pice

I was trying t find a middle road or negative review, but honestly can't find any. if you go to bud and look at the customer reviews, they are mostly 4-5 stars and 4 ones, most of the ones sound like shooter error though. cabelas has about fifty reviews with a few one stars, sounds like Taurus still has some lemons out there, but 95% are seem very satisfied.
