Hello chack,,,
I think the same way you do,,,
But many states consider it a derringer,,,
At least as far as classifying carry weapons goes.
For example, in Oklahoma,,,
If you qualify for your CCL with a revolver,,,
You may then carry either a revolver or a derringer.
Even though the NAA Mini is a revolver,,,
Oklahoma classifies it as a derringer,,,
If you use the NAA Mini to qualify,,,
A derringer is all you can pack.
I consider a derringer to be two barreled,,,
In over-under configuration,,,
With a break open action.
But the original
Deringer was a small single shot cap-n-ball,,,
I don't believe there is a definitive definition in this case.
Except this one because it is a legal definition,,
Deringer is a specific line of guns made by Henry Deringer,,,
Derringer (two r's) is a generic type of small short barreled handguns.
