LaPierre challenges Cokie Roberts re: Clinton & lying

Never Happen.
Besides - it isnt Clinton that needs to get debated... Its Gore.

Besides... This is all controlable via the media - they are the ones that edit the sound bites to twist the outcome in what ever the heck direction they want.
Yes - I am for a debate - but it is a dangerous and potentially disasterous risk. Its a two edged sword like you wouldnt believe. The venue and moderator would have to be totally neutral... or better yet - for the sake of equality - on our side. Because once its out of the bag - the media get to play with it.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the most obvious part of the interview with Wayne. That being the set overhead spot light adjustments made while Wayne was on camera. They were obviously turned on to high intensity (you could actually see this change occur). By the end of the interview, Wayne had dripping sweat on both his forehead and chin.

Nothing like making an opponent sweat as though he were being questioned by Hitler's torturers under intense lights in the eyes. It worked then, and obviously hasn't lost its appeal to the goons directing national "news" programs. The impression made was most important, that Wayne could never appear "cool" under these conditions. This left nothing but doubt in the eyes of viewers sitting on the national gun debate fence.

Jim: I'm not to fond of Heston; Great actor, lousy NRA President. But in his defense, I believe there WERE 12 amendments in the bill of Rights; It's just that two of them didn't get ratified. So his info is just a little out of date. ;)

Notice the huge stink being made about Wayne's "nasty and low" comments about His Billness?
Also note, the response in "defense" address the crudeness and low classness of Wayne and not any address as to the substance of Wayne's comment.

No explanation as to why the "500,000" felons, fugitives and stalkers stopped by Brady weren't prosecuted, for example.

I think this debate was nothing but a plus, frankly. That LaPierre was so confrontational surpised Clinton, I think, and hit a sore spot: enforcement. That's pretty clear given the response today from the White House. Today we hear Lockhart saying that Clinton will respond today to the slur that he plays violence for political gain (imagine someone having the nerve to make such an accusation!). He also says that the NRA has "removed itself from the debate"!

Now that last remark is hilarious given that Clinton just _yesterday_ appeared with LaPierre to debate... I guess the thing that infuriating the administration is that that NRA actually DID debate, not that it removed itself. Instead of more rolling over and making noise that doesn't seem too obstructionist the NRA has made clear they're not going to take it lying down...that's pissing off this cynical administration more than anything. I'm sure they _wish_ that the NRA had "removed itself" from the debate.

For all of you that have complained that the NRA is not going on the offensive, well, it looks like they're doing just that. Now's the time to get behind them. It's just one man's opinion, but I don't have any more patience for the anti-NRA stuff until after November.

and each one had the potential to kill at least 3 people so 1.5 million people are alive today because of NICS

i heard that alot of the NICS rejections are guys buying a hand gun on Saturday and then trying to buy another 3 Saturdays later and being held up due to "one month" calculation differences.

dZ

And a great many were rejected due to name similarity, cleared up later...There was a cop in New Mexico stopped by NICS cuz he had the same name as a felon...cleared up and he got his gun a few days later.

Face it...its a crime to attempt to buy a gun if ineligible....thats a gimme conviction. There are oodles of hungry-to-make-a-name assistant DA's that would eat this up.

abc news early evening news 3/13 (dinner time hour ~6pm) had as one of their major stories how upset clinton and his adminstration was that the NRA would say that he needs a certain level of gun violence to futher his political agenda. they gave gores spin on it also, and tried to make the NRA sound like it was out of touch with reality, etc.

NOT ONE WORD about clinton be wrong with his spin on statistics, or the lack of enforcement of current gun laws.

figures....

Just a small but perhaps inmteresting point regarding the La Pierre/Clinton interview on This Week, this past Sunday AM.

Cokie Roberts, the penultimate Washington Insider, made mention of what she described as NRA objections to restrictions on "cop killer bullets".

Well now, as I recall, the projectiles that were given that chilling name were the tflon coated bullets that were marketed under the brand name KTW. These projectiles had been developed as an aid to police. There is no record of a police officer having been killed, as a result of their being hit with one. Even more interesting is the fact that they, the KTW Bullets were NEVER commercially available. They were available, on LAW ENFORCEMENT PURCHASE ORDER ONLY, and the product, for one reason or another, was not in production for any great length of time.

Of course, one would not expect the "talking heads" to give such dull facts much mention, however the facts of the matter remain, unmentioned and unloved. Then there is that one rather interesting fact, being as follows: CLINTON IS A LIAR, AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN A LIAR.

Re ABC's This Week, Cokie Roberts mentioned what she described as NRA's trying to stop the banning of "cop killer bullets". I assume that she refered to that old bugaboo, otherwise known as KTW Bullets.

On these long out of production items, plesase note the following, and correct me if I should err.

1. There is no record of any police officer having been injured, let along killed as a result of being hit by one.

2. Ammunition so bulleted was never commercially sold, it was availably on law enforcement purchase order only.

3. It had been developed as an aid to police, who had found that the 38 Special ammunition they usually used, this was some years back, lacking in the ability to penetrate "hard" targets.

One realizes that the "talking heads" find such matters rather dull, dry and uninteresting, however the facts do remain what they are, facts. By the way, re basic facts, Clinton was, is and remains a liar.

Seems I managed a "double post". Thought the earlier one time stamp 12:09 hadn't gone thru, so I rewrote it. Seems that it did go through, ergo a double post, my apologies.
