LaPierre Before Senate

Positive view

After reading the above comments, I feel like a Pollyanna! I thought the general tone was in keeping with our 2a views. I thought the Senators, particularly Sen Grassley gave the impression that they were not on board with proposals like Feinstein's, and wouldn't be pushed or rushed into anything of that ilk. I thought Wayne LaPierre did a much better job than the previous encounter. I'm actually encouraged by all this. Am I wacky on this?

As I said I only saw part of the hearing, so there may have been Democrats that were supportive, but the individuals I saw did not seem to be.

Feinstein grudgingly acknowledged that the roster of speakers was packed with anti-gun shills, and has promised her own round of supposedly impartial hearings.

Are you kidding??? If she actually said that and used the word 'impartial' her nose must have grown at least a foot in length.

but he failed to mention that only 62 of those 2 million cases were ever referred for prosecution.

There is a simple and logtical reason ONLY 62 OF 2,000,000 were prosecuted...no wait, there isn't.

Thank you Tom Servo (and others) for keeping us updated about what happened.

I just finished watching the whole 4+ hours of it on C-Span. I found some of it comical but, the panel was 3-2 pro gun.

The young lady and the professor were great. Wayne IMO needs either a rest or someone to stand in for him.

I watched it. LaPierre didn't have many snappy answers. Just that dull deer in the headlight look. More circle talk, little information. I was disappointed in his come-backs.

Actually there is. The vast majority of them were false positives.

Exactly. Talk about the misuse of statistics. I want to choke one of them every time they bring up this "2 million of the wrong people were prevented from getting a gun" crap. The system generates a lot of false positives. Or failures to function properly in one way or another. So the person is told they can't buy the gun. The denied person goes through the process and eventually it is cleared up and he is allowed to make the purchase. People that know they will be denied.... wow, just imagine this... almost never go into a gunstore, fill out a 4473, and stand there while it is being checked!

So the anti's use a statistic to back up their arguments. When that statistic actually shows how often the system they want to expand actually fails. And they almost never get called on it.

It's as bad as the 40% of guns are private sales BS.
