Lake City 5.56mm

I had a few probs with my brand new Glock 23 at the time. The first few mags I had a round or two problem, a fail to eject or two and then a fail to feed properly or double feed some sort of problem.

Now people were like, ***, YOU GOT A PROBLEM, GLOCKS *NEVER* FAIL, ONE IN A MILLION IS ABOUT THE ACCEPTABLE FAILURE RATE!!!!!!!

Well I kept shooting it, got a few more from 150-350-500 rounds.

Then it just about evened out and I've never had a problem since. And my Glock is "perfect" it just needed a bit of smoothing, which IMHO is perfectly acceptable. And you know it was cheap ammo and a new gun etc. so it just could be the situation.

I dont think your Saiga is a problem nor the Lake City, but they COULD potentially be problems TOGETHER, but again you gotta shoot more to find out. I know its a lot of money and you prob bought it to save but AT LEAST a few magazines bro, consider it "research and development" in your investment.

where's art eatman when you need'im. I've read similar posts concerning the use of 5.56 ammo in a saiga(those threads specifically stated that saiga is stamped 223). also if you continued to read, he was told that even though a saiga was stamped 223 it was actually chambered for the 5.56 round so the purchase of 5.56 ammo wasn't just a random act of stupidity. if everyone knew everything there was to know about their guns there would be no need for these forums but what do I know

perhaps it's just easier to pick a fight on an anonymous forum and automatically assume you are superior and that other people are idiots.

Never had so much as one misfire with Lake City ammo. I would buy it all day long if the price is right.

And, some of you guys are absolutely right. Lots of folks believe that .223 and 5.56 are interchangeable.....it is not. It may fire in your rifle but then again, it may not.

Look at your rifle barrel. It should be stamped either .223 or 5.56. Whatever the stamp says is what you should be shooting. I bought a Bushmaster which specifies that it will shoot either .223 or 5.56 and as the world turns, it does a great job eating either one. I buy whichever one I get the best deal on. Gives me some bargaining room. Just bought a 1000 rounds of 5.56 at just under 28 cents per round which I think is a pretty good deal these days.

"X" denotes reject, to my knowledge. Doesn't mean it's 'bad'. It just means it can't pass as military M193. These are not reloads. Can get it loose or on strippers. My XM855 are all on strippers. On visual inspection, 12 rounds out of 420 were such that I will not fire them- creases and or/conical dents were a bullet tip was rammed into the brass. Seems like the ones I had were rejected on those grounds but the vast majority were fine, and reasonably accurate too

Could have been rejected for not enough sealer on the primer, etc, too.

there is no such that as lake city arsenal either and bill clinton made it illegal to sell either ammo or weapons that are currently standard issue to civilians.

ATK is a company that runs the Lake City Ammunition plant(which is government owned) and they manufacture all their 5.56mm brass there.

since it is only illegal to sell live ammunition to civilians ATK ships the components to two of their subsidiaries(American Eagle and Federal) where they put the primers back in, remeasure the powder and reseat the bullets. they then turn around and sell it as XM193 instead of the military designation M193. if you do find surplus it's been on the market since before the Clinton administration. and most of the faulty lake city brass is reloads.

it would not be legal for ATK to turn around and sell contract overflow or surplus or even out of spec ammo to the general public.
Ok Tahunua001 i almost did not post this reply because i thought who cares what he thinks, but i changed my mind because some one on here is going to read your misinformation and unchecked facts, and think it is fact, when it is not. So i will give people the information and facts i have researched, and let them make up there own minds. Tahunua001 iv educated you before, as many many others have had to do in the past, as you remember it was on the difference between a CZ-75 and a Beretta 92/M9, and im going to have to do it again, so here goes. First off; i dont no what you mean when you say.

There is such as that. I think your hang up is that i called it an arsenal, but it is the definition an arsenal.

n.
1. A governmental establishment for the storing, development, manufacturing, testing, or repairing of arms, ammunition, and other war materiel.
2. A stock of weapons.
3. A store or supply: an arsenal of retorts.
Besides that before Lake City Ammunition plant was called a plant it was called an arsenal, back when Remington was still running the place. Second; I would never ever stand up for the Clinton administration, but it has always been illegal to sell weapons that are currently standard issue to civilians, that was not something they came up with. Third; ATK does now run the plant for the government, and Federal is one of there subsidiaries, American Eagle is a brand name for Federal. But Federal does not take the LC 5.56 brass and,

that is not true at all. The ammo wether it is 5.56 XM855 or 5.56 XM193, they are both made at the Lake City Ammunition Plant, it is just packaged and distributed by Federal. I called Federal and made sure of that here is there #1-800-831-0850 if you're interested. Lastly; all though LC does not sell directly to the public, there is nothing illegal about them selling ammo to the public through there subsidiaries like Federal. So there you go lesson learned, next time check your facts before you post, and dont worry so much about getting your post count up, it is more important to give good information, and help people on here, than give misinformation and unchecked facts. Take your own advice.

well, looks like I've been hoodwinked. I guess next time I'll verify my information before I put such blatantly ignorant information out to others.
Keep that in mind and you will do your self and everyone on here a great service, Thanks.
