ladies. What Semi do you choose?

This is not for any of the guys, but for the ladies.

when given the option, what pistole do you prefer?
Is it a 380. please give model and etc. If it's a
9mm. then which one do you have or prefer.

My wife currently has a 357 mag LCR 5 shot Ruger.
Sh's accurate and guick, but likes my Glock 19
Gen 4, but it's to big and too heavy.

Please feel free to weigh in. Your answers are
vey vey important. After this, we will go to our
range and rent out the semis and choose from
what my wife wants. Whatever she says she likes
is what I will get her. There is no budget on this.

I apologize for answering your post but my daughter isn't a member so she can't respond.

My daughter has a 4" S&W mod 66 357 mag that she's been shooting for a few years but since she's been shooting my guns (mostly semi autos) she decided she wanted a semi auto for her primary SD weapon. She's shot Glock's, Springfield's, 1911, Walther's and SIG's in 45, 40, 9mm and 32 ACP and decided she liked the weight, balance, feel, ergonomics and recoil of the Sig SP2022 in 40 cal.

I'm an old 1911 guy but I worked hard to be neutral on her choice and to give her as many options as possible before she made up her mind.

I think she made a good choice as I ended up purchasing one in 40 cal also.

My fiancé, who is sitting next to me, really likes her M&P9c for the range and her Sig P938 for carry. She has no intention of pocket carry or carrying in her purse so she is not interested in a .380. That is how she told me to respond to your question.

Apologies Doc, but my wife is not a member but wanted to chime in.

I bought, and she agreed to carry a Sig P238.

I have to admit to using it for trips around town when I do not want to carry a G19.

She does love the S&W 36.

For home defense, for carry, what purpose? If for carry, how does your wife typically carry? Purse, holster?

I'm not a woman but a lot of the same concepts for carrying apply regardless of sex. Has your wife thought about how she will carry the pistol like I asked above? Holster on body, purse, etc?

My wife is enjoying her 5 month old Sig P320. She has the compact and sub-compact gripframes for it, and a Streamlight green laser/light combo to attach to the rail. She probably has just under 1000 rounds through it so far and doing well. She can manipulate the slide on it better than several other pistols. She's 66 years old, and doesn't have as much arm/hand strength as she used to. She can handle full 357 rounds from some of our revolvers, and can shoot my 1911 as long as she doesn't have to manipulate the slide, that spring is too much for her.

ladies what semi do you choose?

My wife is not a member here either but she has for many years relied on a S&W 59. It fits her hand and she shoots it enough to be comfortable with it. It may be old school but she doesn't care. In her younger days when she worked for the sheriff's office she would shoot competitively with it against the deputies in the department. More than one of them had to take some extra practice and training after she showed them how it was done. I've offered her a few more current semis but she wants me to go find her another 59.

This isn't going to be at all helpful. My girlfriend likes her LCP, her SIG P229 and next on her wishlist is a fullsize 1911. She also thinks that anyone who thinks the LCP isn't pleasant to shoot for 200 rounds needs to have their head examined :p .

2 women in my family that carry ...one went with Sig 239 in 9mm.../ and one went with a Kimber Tactical Pro II model ( 4" alloy frame ) in 9mm.

( I have both guns in my collection ...and they both shot them a lot ...and ended up with those same models ). I tried not to influence them beyond giving them honest input...and I carry a full sized, stainless, 5" barrel 1911 in 9mm - and neither of them liked the extra weight of the full sized 5" all steel gun.

My wife regularly carries a Sig P238.

My daughter has a Beretta PX4 compact in 9 mm for a home defense gun, but considers it too big for regular carry.

My wife has commandeered my G26 and THINKS she has commandeered my HK P7. She can easily rack the slides on either, especially using the push-pull method as explained on Pax's CorneredCat site.

Posting for the two women in my life.
My wife really likes her Browning 1911-380 Black Label. She is very accurate with it and carries it.
My 21yo daughter likes her Rock Island 1911 45 and my Browning Buckmark as well as her 12ga Remington 870.

I am also answering for my wife.
Her favorite fun pistol is a 1911 (5" STI Trojan 9mm with thin grips and short trigger). I know for sure because it used to be my pistol and now it is hers.
---------
When she CCs, it is a Kahr K9.

My wife and daughter prefer revolvers.

My MiL has a Sig 250 that she likes a lot. It fits her hand well and she can rack the slide easily.

My wife chose a Kimber Micro9 as her carry gun. Her range guns are a Colt Custon shop 1911 Govt., a Ruger SR-22, and a Kimber 1911 Target Eclipse
