La Pierre on Meet the Preess

pluspinc, I have to disagree with you about Tom. I believe he did get his butt kicked by Rosie. Yes, Rosie shot off her big ( I don't know what I'm talking about)mouth, but she got out want she wanted, while Tom the gentleman did nothing to defend his stance. We need fighters, not gentleman, or better yet gentleman that can fight back. We need people that are going to fight back when someone is in their face yelling, screaming, and trying to cut them off. It's at these times where we may only get the chance to get our facts out. Lord knows the Clinton news media will never help us out. I do agree that it may have cost Rosie her Kmart gig, but who in the heck would support a store that would hire such a obnoxious, degrading, disrespectful person. Heck, Penny Marshall has done adds for Kmart too and she is as leftwing as Rosie. I never liked Rosie even before I found out she was a gun control nazi. I guess why I get so frustrated with the people on our side is that they are usually good, polite, well mannered individuals(which is good) that are shouted down by the oppossing side. I rarely watch the shows like I used to, but this always happened on shows like Crossfire, This Weak, Meet the Depressed, Deface the Nation, Nightline, etc. We need to start fighting like the other side, mean and dirty. We have a lot at stake and right now we are losing.

Gale and others, the Clintonistas did in fact weasel out of the H. Rap Brown accusation, in the eyes of most Americans, by their allegation/retort on the Sunday morning shows (This Week) that the prosecution was not in their hands, but rather in the hands of state officials. I have read today here on TFL that this is possibly a lie; that the fed gov did in fact have the discretion to prosecute or not (I'm sure they did, since even chewing gum and walking is against the federal code somewhere), but the sad thing is Heston failed to refute the lie/red herring and came off looking like a fibber himself. The Clintonistas sunday morning flatly stated that the H. Rap Brown thing was a failure to prosecute by state authorities, which in effect subtly spun it into "see, we obviously need more federal involvement and laws because you states can't handle things on your own." See these gun-grabbers are evil geniuses and are winning this battle (so far). Double arrggghh.

Futo...
Isn't it true that the States can not prosecute a violation of Fed law...since its a Fed law and not a State law?

Timothy McVeigh was tried in both Fed and State courts..Fed for killing 14 federal employees and destruction of Federal property...state for the murder of 100+ people.

States may not prosecute violations of federal law, unless the acts committed also give rise to a violation of state law(s), as happened with Tim McVeigh, and as happens all the time with bank robberies, etc. There are bazillions of federal crimes which the feds routinely defer to the state to prosecute, and only get involved when they damn well feel like it (when it's politically expedient for Mr. Freuh). As for the H. Rap Brown deal, what's the accusation by NRA? That the feds didn't prosecute a "weapon's charge"? What kind? I suspect they probably COULD have prosecuted, which means that in their DISCRETION they did not, which means Heston is right on - the Clinton admin. is not exercising its discretion to put resources into prosecuting crimes committed with guns! But the admin. has immediately come weaseling back saying they had no authority to prosecute. Yes, perhaps it's true that the state could have, too. But that does not eliminate the fact that this administration did NOT deem it important enough to prosecute, assuming Heston and NRA are correct.
