Knife Amnesty in Britain

hey George Orwell was right after all its coming along quite well with out a revolution only a few decades too late but that wasnt his intentions 1984 was a warning not to be taken lightly

I think the Brits need a good natural disaster to get them to see the light. They don't get any good floods, hurricanes, or earthquakes. Though they do seem to beat us when it somes to rioting. (I'd riot too if I had to watch a soccer game.:p )

The real comedy is the way stabbings and violent knife-related crime has skyrocketted over here since the amnesty came out.

Jumpin' Jehoshaphat! If you take the knives away from law-abiding folk, then the criminals will feel free to use their knives! Who knew?

But you see... the UckGov knows exactly what it's doing. Really. The attitude of most Uckians would turn you lot white. You'd edge away, thinking "This guy's from Mars!".

Most of them would rather die than kill to defend themselves. I'm serious. They really would. And they'd see it as some kind of "moral purity". They really have no idea. This is a country with training wheels.

A normal house-cat that grows up in the wild never meows. Meowing is a kittenish trait to attract attention that a feral cat loses shortly after nursing. Cats raised in a house meow all their lives.

A normal human raised with nannyism honestly things that it's better to die than to defend itself, in some perverse and horribly messed-up way.

And so, the Leading Class buzzes around in it's armoured limos, with it's jackbooted MP-5 toting escort (as appallingly trained as UKCops with guns are), while We the Sheeple bleed, die, and pay out taxes.

For crying out loud.

Hump Iran. PLEASE INVADE ENGLAND.

I'm already a US citizen, old fruit. I'm just sorting out a livelihood as I move back.

I fly out on the 28th.

Wish me luck :)

"Old fruit" is like "old chap", or "mucka" or other semi-honourific imbued to someone whose views a person likes, but one doesn't know well enough for such intimate terms as "Dear chap", "Mate" or "good fellow".

I assure you, it's nothing perjorative.

(Gods, but I'm going to have fun bringin this mode of speech across the pond, aren't I?)

The martial arts are next. Expect a ban on training. It will start as a registration of all people who train at clubs (cause fist and feet are used to kill and maim.) Later they will ban any use of weapons in training. They when crime still is high, they will ban the actual training in the art. All with the justification of safety.

Oh, and it's my opinion this is all on PURPOSE. They let crime stay high, they let the courts get overloaded. All with the purpose of allowing them to ban weapons and ban training. One day, when all forms of defense are prohibitatied, then they will crack down on any lawbreakers, real or imagined, and you will have a true police state, except this time the populance will be totaly ignorant on how to fight.

Well that's bloomin' obvious. Sorry to say, chap - no offence - but there's nothing like having a vigorous and active criminal element to give the PTBs all manner of excuses for impolite and intermperate behaviour. After all, a terrorised citizenry which is denied it's ability - or even the mindspace - to defend itself is a compliant, helpless tax-cow.

I for one refuse to shut up and be milked, and denied my right to moo.

See you chaps shortly.

*a jaunty wave from Blairetopia*

Pardon mon francais, but bollocks to this. I've got far more important things to do that worry about the physical condition of a burglar when I slop what's left of him into a bucket for the Garda to collect.

Uniform Policy

All weapons bans are part of a global move in Western "democracies" to create uniform civil law. Unarmed folk are much easier to control when the military and LEO's are dripping weapons. The global banks wouldn't have it any other way!

It seems almost cliche to invoke Orwell and 1984 but honestly the man saw the future with such clarity it's unbeleivable. The telescreen will be the RFID chip but everything else is right on the money.

"ID Card, please"

"ID Card, please" I couldn't agree more.

I don't get what you're all complaining about.
Give it another 5-10 years and we on TFL can invade the UK ourselves and have our very own country. Won't even have to fire a shot, brandishing will most likely scare everyone to death.

:D

You forgot the next logical step... banning fists and feet. After all, decent law abiding blokes don't need fists or feet.

Laws - Schmaws

Just a small point about 'laws.' They can be ignored. If they're stupid enough, they will be ignored. The English know this. If they want to have a steak knife, they will. Same with anything else. Nobody drank during Prohibition did they? The government wants to run their lives, no mistake about that. But, if the people feel differently, they'll do differently.

More than 100,000 weapons were handed to police in England, Scotland and Wales during a national knife amnesty.

During the five-week amnesty, which ended on 30 June, people could dispose of knives in secure bins without being prosecuted for possession.

Um, why would "possession" of a knife be something for which a person would have been prosecuted?

I have to conclude from this that Britain is full of brain-dead people.
What person who is a danger to others because he has a knife goes out and rushes to surrender the knife to the authorities? Wouldn't logic dictate that the people who do want to commit crimes with knives would be the ones who refuse to surrender them?

So the police got 100,000 knives that were not going to be threatening anyone. Yay.

"The amnesty is certainly a step in the right direction and I hope it will prove to be a catalyst in changing the culture of routine knife possession, minimising the opportunity for the serious harm that can follow from the violent use of a knife," he added.

They have completely lost their minds in the U.K.

If they truly believe that "routine knife possession" is an evil present in society, instead of a sign of the intelligence of mankind and the preparedness of the average citizen to perform everyday tasks with the proper tools, then they have indeed lost their minds.
