KMart ammo sale

From what I've listened to and overheard at some of the "local gun shops" is bullsh!#. Maybe if you go to a specialized Tactical/LEO shop you can maybe find some good advice. Mostly, and this is from the Houston area, the gun shops are way over priced and only tell you something you want to hear so that you will buy their product.
Here in Houston, Academy and Oshman's runs sales on CCI/Blazer 9mm for $4.99 a box(50).
The "gun shops" want twice that!

Not to say that theres not good gun shops out there. I just wouldn't depend on them for proper advice.

Buy your ammo at the cheapest place you can find it. That's what keeps prices down. Its called competitive sales.

Got to agree with Joe. Well run gun shops have low overhead, cheap prices, excellent selections and knowledgable employees. When I find them I patronize them heavily. Unfortunately, most gun shops have none of the above due to poor management on the part of the owners. Most internet merchants are on top of things pricewise as they are somewhat saavy to the constant price fluctuations that exist in this market. Frequently the smaller gun shop owners have their head up their butts as far as current prices go-and that's bad business.

I buy my ammo in bulk at gun shows, SGN, or over the net. For the amount I shoot the per round price has to be as low as possible. Reloading here I come! But it will have to wait 'til retirement.

I'll buy ammo wherever it's cheapest. I am so sick of getting screwed at gunstores. So they specialize in guns. SO WHAT!? Does that give them a license to steal? Gun stores have gotten worse and worse over the last decade or so. As more gunowners become paranoid, more store owners take advantage of that. The raise in FFL fees also did wonders for their business by killing off the competition.
I refuse to take it in the rear. I buy from whoever is cheapest. that goes for everything, guns, ammo, whatever. I do buy most guns from gunstores, but I call every store within a days travel to find a realistic price. I'm lucky to have one store nearby that is very fair pricing guns, and I STILL call around.
It's a free market. If the gunstores don't realize that soon, they will die. Tough. Maybe the next owner will learn. A dealer here was just liquidated last weekend. At least there were some good deals at the auction!
Sorry for the rant, I'll quit now. Dealer gouging is one of my pet peeves. I'll just go down to K-mart and buy some cheap ammo to cheer myself up.
