King of the .45

Ive seen P220 with triggeres better than the beloved Python. So I know thats possible.

And admittedly - the .45 Super impresses the hell out of me. But - King's also does a very sweet job on those .45s that are equal to the above mentioned BIG NAMES. AND IN .45 SUPER! :D

Ummm. I subscribe to Gun Tests, and they do a usually tolerable job. However, this extensive comparison was based on ONE sample from each shop. Now, I haven't done a T-square analysis, but I'm pretty sure that this doesn't reach the level of statistical significance. Likewise, here on the Forum or the net you hear from happy or unhappy owners, but I don't believe we're looking at an accurate sampling!

This seems to me to a valid and interesting point. While I certainly feel like Gun Tests does a better job of evaluating handguns than most the gun rags, it is true that they only test one. My guess is that's because that's all they can afford. If they ask for guns for free, they'd either be biased or probably get specially slicked out loaners.

Do you have any ideas on how to address this problem?

Seen two P220's with cracked frames.

Used to get "Gun Tests", but since my personal experiences did not always mirror theirs I decided to drop them.

Now I make up my own mind.
My 1911 is a Caspian-based 'stock' gun, using the very finest components available (Bar-Sto, Ed Brown, EGW, McCormick, Nowlin, Wolff, Ahrends, Robar, Mag-Pack, Gray Area Ammo).
It shoots like a Bullseye gun, functions perfectly during a dusty/freezing/rainy IPSC match, and looks cool.
Plus, I like it.

You can have one, too, for $3500-$4000.

My gun is the KING.

I've seen one cracked P220 frame; gun was a 10+ year old rental gun with over 100K rounds through it. A few of the older model Sigs had hairline frame cracks that Sig fixed gratis. Sig fixed the frame crack "problem" 5 years ago. Sig P-seris can be had in DAO by simply taking out three parts and changing the hammer. Sig mags are now made by Mecgar and unless you purposely abuse them, they're not going to wear out very fast.

Hawkeye said it best with Gun Tests and all these "tests". They're really not representative samples from a normally-distributed population. It's all personal preference and I think the shooter is the one that's going to be "king" of the .45.
