Kimber or Springfield?

Thanks guys for the posts. I'm leaning to the Springfield direction. It sounds like if you get a good Kimber you've got a real nice pistol. The key word being if. The service dept. of Springfield sounds mucho better, if you need them. What's the differences between a standard pistol and a mil-spec? Thanks again. :)

Mule, the Mil-spec springer is literally that. It's just what the army ordered way back when.

Their "loaded" weapons are more customized with features like the extended beavertail safety, rosewood/cocobolo grips, novak sight... Of course, the price goes up as well.

As a recent purchaser of a "loaded" SA, I would strongly urge you to buy a mil-spec and add on to it yourself. The loaded versions offer nothing, in my book, unless you like black-on-black sights, 2-pc FLGR, rosewood grips.....

For the money saved, buy the mil-spec and get a competent smith to add the needed hammer/beavertail, good ashley sights, slim grips, etcetera. The money saved on the platform (your milspec) will buy a lot of goodies.

Also, I just sent my SA back for some warranty work and will be very interested to see how they will handle the problems. They were definitely helpful and paid shipping both ways.
