Kicked off rozie's forum!

FOR THE RECORD....

There are TWO 'S's in MOUSSE!

Mouse is a small furry creature. No doubt there are none in Rosie's house because she ate them all, as soon as she heard the mouse (mousse?) traps snap....

HAR HAR HAR!!

Making fun of Rosie for her weight is a lot like criticising Hitler for his stupid little moustache. It's completely missing the point: they're corrupt in their thinking.

Rosie is consistantly, documentably, a dangerous idiot. Why do you want to detract from that serious, completely valid point, by pointing out her physical traits? (Other than for a laugh...)

L.P.

May I add my two cents worth??

I was one of those converts Dennis mentioned. I started posting a year ago at WB, and then Acme, not because I was a Rosie fan, but because I heard there was a discussion on the message board about the Makah whale hunt (don't even get me started on that topic ;) ). I stayed there because I met many wonderful friends.

I was a fence sitter on the gun issue, waffling back and forth depending on what stats I heard that day. When Miss D started her board I posted on one forum and lurked on the gun forum, reading the posts and learning a lot. I didn't start posting on that forum until a troll came along and started bashing gun owners, especially the females. While I may not have known much about firearms issues, I do know that people should not be trashed for their beliefs. The fact that these were my friends only made me more determined to get involved. So I jumped in feet (paws? flippers?) first, and haven't stopped since. The regulars on the board recognized that I was still a fence sitter, and they patiently and respectfully helped to educate me...giving me info, stats, answering questions and letting me make my own decisions. Miss D and Coinneach then brought me to TFL, where I was immediately welcomed and accepted and where I continue to be educated daily. And lo and behold, here you have a former fence sitter who now takes every opportunity to discuss the RKBA and the true stats at every opportunity. And guess what? People listen! While many at the boards were surprised at my change in attitude, no one denounced me for becoming a "gunnie", just like I don't berate them for liking Rosie. The WB and Acme boards are places where friends hang out...Rosie is rarely even discussed!

Ask Miss D and Jeff OTMG...the number of pro gunners at those two boards has changed dramatically, much to our surprise. And most people are not opposed to gun discussions, but they do ask that discussions be respectful and that the boards not be flooded with gun threads. I don't think these requests are out of line. Trashing Rosie doesn't help our cause. Educating people with the facts does.

A big thank you goes out to Miss D, Coinneach, Jeff OTMG, Jim V, Gwinny, Grayfox, Kevinw and many others...without them I would not be here. And another thank you goes out to my fellow TFLers for continuing to educate me and giving me the info I need to further our cause.

Oh, and Dennis...do you really think that my conversion was only a "minor victory"? ;)

Oh, Jeez! :( Here we go! :D
-------

First of all, I trust you know I was not insulting or belittling you.
Therefore I don’t think some big apology is in order.
However, if I *did* offend you, please tell me. I’ll reassure you any
perceived offense was unintentional once I determine that *you* (like
another lady “in the area”) are not simply enjoying watching me squirm! :D

In the interim, I'll try to give you a straight answer.
-------

The conversion of a single person from anti-gun to pro-gun is a major victory,
a minor victory, and an undetermined event.

- It is a major victory in the lives of the pro-gun people involved and/or
aware of the conversion. Just as it might be a major defeat in the lives of the
anti-self defense people involved.

- It is a minor victory in the overall scheme of things - the struggle to regain
the Liberty and Freedom we were given by our Founding Fathers and secured,
generation after generation, by “the brave men (and women), living and dead
who struggled here.” Your conversion, like my conversion, is one small step
in a long, tiring, potentially deadly journey.

- Your conversion, like mine and others, remains a somewhat undetermined
event. You now know the truth, the dangers, the duties and the obligations
required of a free people. It remains to be seen what we will accomplish.

Will we let our Rights slip away gradually, trading real Rights for government
privileges? Will we keep as much as we can for as long as we can and thereby
help the government set the yoke of tyranny upon our children and
grandchildren?

I can not. I look at my children and see that each generation largely accepts
their lot as the status quo. It is too often only the “old people” who recognize
how much we have lost over our lifetime.

Therefore, it is up to us, all of us, to recognize the threat, unite, and take
whatever action is required if we are not to sell out our children to the likes
of Clinton, Gore, Schumer, Feinstein, Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, Idi Amin, and
others of their ilk.

Welcome to the fray. Let us do all we can, as you already show us, to bring
as many people as possible into the pro-Rights movement. We must increase
our numbers, strengthen our resolve, and improve our effectiveness if we are
to succeed in restoring Constitutional law in these United States. Only then
can we “secure the blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our posterity.”

Either you believe in the Second Amendment or you don't.
Stick it to 'em! RKBA!

Dennis...you know how I love to watch you squirm! ;)

You know that no apology is necessary...I was just teasing you! ;)

I will, however, let you buy me a Shiner for putting up with you! :D

Great post! You do have a way with words!

Well, what can I say, dennis? You may be right about me for all I know. If I am guilty of anything, I don't think its worse than calling for jailing me and all legal gun owners. It looks to me like my humor, as much as you may disagree with it, has given enjoyment to a number of the people on the boards here. Does OUR morale count for any less in the good fight than THEIR opinions? I admit my activity on their board represent a break from the norms of these chat boards, it certainly is a break from my norm (yes as a matter of fact i WAS a discipline problem in elementary school!). I view them as a form of psy-ops, you view them as counterproductive in the battle for hearts and minds. Both probably legitimate viewpoints. I guess my final spin on it is, since I was dealing with those who AGREED with Rosey about jailing me and my family (SHE started the attack, THEY started the thread), "zealotry in defense of liberty is no vice".

Forums about DC comics???!!!!???
Please, please, please remind me to play nice over there. I hate to admit it in public, but I kinda liked Rosie's character in "A League of Their Own", but have little use for her in anything else. As far as her politics go, I hate elite attitudes and bubble people.(bubble as in doesn't take much to burst it, not bubble as in round, I am bit of the roundo myself)As such, I didn't post on her board, respecting the "Turf" of those that were there. Same goes/went for the Ms. boards. Got no interest in femminism, as in I ain't one, and I don't really know any.

HOWEVER

A DC comics board! Kind of a matter of interst for Green Lantern.

You folks remember the "Save the Chilren" march a few years ago? (I think that was the name attached, anyway.)

I would have had a hard time believing it if I hadn't seen her myself, but Her Fatness said, and I quote:

"We need the government to teach us how to be good parents."

Is there any wonder where this woman comes from?

Courtesy is indeed the best way to proceed, for now.

I got really pissed at a couple of folks on our side of the argument on Sunday up in the nation's capitol. I was having a conversation with a couple of anti's, and was obviously scoring a ton of mental points with them, based on their facial expressions. I was asking a bunch of questions designed to make them think. A sample:

Did you know that of the 13 "children" who are killed by guns each day, 12 of them are aged 16-20?

Did you know that firearms have not changed significantly in form and function since the turn of the century? (That one got one guy to REALLY thinking, because he was just convinced that auto-loading pistols were a relatively new concept.)

Then the bomb dropped: If firearms haven't really changed much at all, then what has? (The obvious answer: the attitude of the people wielding them, which he arrived at on his own.)

That being the case, do you believe that controlling the inanimate object will ultimately lead to control over the animate object? (Again, an obvious answer (NO) which he got on his own.)

At this point, my "allies" injected themselves in the conversation and dragged it WAY downhill. They wanted to "fight", and wouldn't have it any other way. I turned and left, shaking my head in disgust.

There is a time to get in someone's face, but it is AFTER they have gotten in yours and stayed there for a while.
