Key Bush backers rally to Fred Thompson

Hell, we can't even form a consensus about whether revolvers are better than semi-autos or whether we would all be better off with shotguns. And we want to argue global climate change with experts in the field?

As a scientist, I suggest you stay away from making red herring arguments. Or to use the latin, Ignoratio elenchi.

I bet you most of those climatologists can't keep with the latest trends in men's clothing when they get dressed for work, so how can we expect them to keep up the latest in scientific data and research? Red herrings.

Also, as someone claiming to be well-versed in statistics (as am I), you cannot forget the three most important rules of stats: 1. Trends do not prove or make causality, 2. your poisson/ exponential simulation is probably missing a step, and 3. 47.5% of statistics are either made up, misleading, or both.

To everyone else, mind rule #1, and realize the extreme weakness so many arguments about gun rights based on stats.

As such, what may be consensus today might just be media hype over a not-so-rigorous theory, and can be bunk tomorrow. We were gonna have global cooling in the 70's, remember?

So, as for your 95% of climitogists, what have they concluded, and are we causing it, and what's their confidence interval?

All I pointed out was that we shouldn't be so arrogant as to jump to such heavy conclusions about the capabilities of humankind, without really, really being sure.
