Kel Tec P32 or NAA Guardian .32?

If we are going to discuss TruthTellers as a person, the thread is over.

We could discuss:

1. Why a 32 with better pocket guns available?
2. So if it is a just because gun - independent of actual utility - which runs better and is more accurate? Which is easier to shoot?

So let's stick to that, we ain't the personality police.

I like, not love, my P-32.

The P-32 was my EDC, but I hit better with the Beretta Tomcat. The extended 10-round magazine and a rubber grip glove help, but I still hit better with the wider grip of the Tomcat and a Pierce pinky extension.

I carry OTW so the extended magazine is not the issue it would be for pocket carry. Even so, I prefer my better accuracy with the Tomcat to the extra three rounds of the P-32.

When Bill DeShivs mentions "that much difference in the weight", you need to understand that the huge difference in weight makes the P-32 a whole different ballgame -- all for the good.

One last comment: The P-32 seems a bit susceptible to limp wristing with some American ammo.

Some Seecamp and rim lock things...

I've carried a Seecamp LWS .32 for years without a problem. I've owned it since the late Eighties. It's a bit heavy by KelTek standards - 14.6 ounces loaded and in its pocket leather holster (also about that age). I'm okay with that.

It has never bobbled or had to go back to the plant for anything. I suspect that's because I use the recommended ammunition for it. It's a bit tamer than the Euro stuff but I'm also okay with that.

While I generally don't like a magazine safety I like the one on the Seecamp. Pull the magazine partly out and leave the chamber loaded and still in its holster when it goes back into the safe. That keeps me from having to continually cycle rounds in and out of the chamber and risk "bullet setback" from it hitting the feed ramp.

I also like the heel clip magazine release rather than a thumb button - I've had thumb-button magazines self-eject on me from side pressure.

Even without sights I can easily keep the rounds on a 3"x5" card at 7 yards and I'm definitely okay with that. This is a last-ditch, bad breath range pistol and it suits me.

But I wouldn't mind having a P-32 also.

I read something recently about rim lock in semi-rimmed 32 auto rounds being related to how you load them in the magazine. The idea is that if you load the magazine with too much pressure towards the front of the round the case rimmed end rises and slips over the rim of the round beneath it, causing rim lock. If you keep finger pressure on the center of the cartridge the rear doesn't rise and there's no rim lock - in effect the upper rim is "locked" in front of the lower one and can't get over over it to jam. FWIW. I've never experienced rim lock with my Seecamp or either of my Colt M1903 pistols.

Why a 32?
If you have ever shot a P3AT next to a P32, you would understand. While the .380 is a more powerful round, it literally kicks like a mule in these tiny guns.
The P32 is pleasant-shooting, smaller, lighter, thinner, and holds more ammunition.

If I have to carry carry a "pocket" pistol, chambered in .32/.380, I want it to be as small, compact and light as practical-being reliable is an assumption for a gun being used for self-defense. The NAA Guardian appears to be a well-made pistol, but it's just heavy enough for me to opt for the Kel Tec P32/380 or the Ruger LCP in .380 (my first choice). As for me, anything bigger than these will be chambered in 9mm.

I have both the Keltec and NAA I carry the Keltec the most because of it's lightness and it is flat, when in my right front pocket ( in a pocket holster ) it disappears. I'm one of those who believes surprise is as important as caliber and I happen to like the little 32ACP

Wife & I own two P32s between us. They are our minimalist guns, packed when other, larger guns are not viable. So thin and light.

I have had 100% reliability with both. Over 1000 rounds through mine and 500 or so though my wife's. Mine has has the finish half worn off. I have tried out most the .32ACP FMJ and HP ammo and even the Buffalo Bore sporty hard cast ammo. I have settled on the Winchester 71gr FMJ Truncated Cone load.

Rented the Guardian and shot it once. I found it to be a knuckle buster.

I have a Kel Tec P-32 and I love it! This gun is small, thin, light weight and easy to conceal. I have 750 flawless rounds thru it. Mostly use Prvi Partizan or Fiocchi in FMJ.
It is accurate from 1 foot to 30 feet, that is the farthest I shoot it. Since buying the P-32 I no longer even look at other pocket guns. IMO Kel Tec made the perfect pocket gun when it made the P-32. You will not be disappointed.

I also must say I have not experienced rim lock so far. I always pay close attention when loading the mags. I have even shot some Prvi Partizan hollow points with no problem, but fmj are my preferred round.

P32

I've had the P32 from when they first came out. I heard all the comments about reliability and such but all I can say is I bought it new, brought it home, took it apart and gave it a fluff and buff and I've never had a problem with it
