Kel-tec P11? Convince me!

The jury is still out on my P-11, but so far I like it okay. I've had 2 failures to extract in 300 rounds. Both with cheap Remington UMC. It seems to be a fairly well made gun, and it makes a good companion for my P-32 (which I love). It's accurate and compact. As far as the trigger goes I just can't figure out what all the fuss is about, but then again my confusion over this topic might have something to do with the fact that I owned a Taurus PT-111 (talk about a lousy trigger) before buying my Kel-Tec.

I owned a P11 for a while, and shot another one that belonged to someone else, and while I never had a jam, I also couldn't hit a damned thing with either one. I am talking not being able to keep the rounds in the black at 7 meters and not even on the PAPER at longer distances. Just didn't feel comfortable with the horrendous trigger pull.

I had a P-11 for several years, and it was my primary CCW.

Mine was accurate. Very accurate. When punching paper.

When I tried it in an IDPA match, where you must move, use cover, etc., and can get distracted, I had less success with it.

The trigger is heavy, but manageable; it is also long. Some folks shoot it very well, but I could never hit as well with it as with other guns, under match pressure.

(I bought a Star Firestar Plus [alloy frame] at a pawn shop for $130. Its slightly heavier than the P-11, but about the same size. Also double-stack with up to 13 rounds, depending on the mag. The first time I shot it in an IDPA match, I had the best time/score. Very nice gun, very nice trigger. [single-action]. The only problem may be parts, but just traded for a second one, as a fall back.) I traded the P-11 for a very nice .22 rifle, set up for NRA target. It was a good trade.)

The P-11 is a good, solid gun. But it just doesn't work well for some folks; I was one of them.

"why pay top doller for somthing somone else has had and sold for some reson." -- scoops

Did you miss the part where he posted it is NIB [New In Box]? That's a very good price if the dealer is to make any profit at all.

"more importantly run away from that kel tec p11.it is truley a pos.it is 200 dollers for a
reason.40 cal and that crummy trigger adds up to a pos."

Ummm...the P-11 is chambered in 9mmP. It's a very sophisticated, locked-breech design that offers a lot of horsepower in a light and small design.

Perhaps your problem with the Kel-Tec is that you just don't know how to shoot one properly.

Its a Good Buy

I have had my Kel-Tec P11 for about a year. It has a long trigger pull that takes some getting used to, but once you master that, it is fine. When I first started shooting mine, I bought some cheap alumminum casing rounds and it jammed up quite a bit, but then I started using some good brass rounds and have not had a jam since. In my opinion it is a good buy.

The whole idaea comes down to what the individual likes and dislikes...so many guns, so little money.

I've shot several different Glocks, Sigs and Barettas, Rugers, et al. Some performed well for me, some didn't.

When I looked at different handguns, I made a list of what I wanted for concealed carry and discarded anything that didn't meet my criteria. I ended up choosing the P11. It has performed well from day one...for me.

And that's what it's all about.

I can say that I've never had a malfunction with this weapon. It has digested every round I've fed it. It has gone through about 3000 rounds since I bought it last January. It is accurate, for me, out to 15yds. It is resonably accurate out to 25yds. In short, it is exactly what I wanted in a carry weapon. I can say that while I've thought of doing a fluff & buff, I never have. It was flawless out of the box (KISS - If it works don't fix it).

The final analysis comes back to, buy/use what works for you.

I have owned one for quite awhile..I recently traded it in..got a Glock 19 but I will say the P-11 was a VERY reliable piece..about 1200 rounds and ONE Failure in all that is reliable IMO. I just prefer the ease of Rapid follow-up shots I can get with the Glock.. as far as daily carry the P-11 is still good IMO:)

I just got my P-11 and have only had time to put 50 rds through it, But I can say this, I was impressed with it's accuracy. Of course I handled it some and familiarized myself with the trigger pull, which I found to be long,But the break was easy to learn and 1st time shooting it, I scored 247 out of possible 250.. I think it's going to make a excellant CCW,Very easy to conceal. Time will tell, I put 100 to 150 rds through all my pistols weekly,so I will definitely have better input in a few months.. :D

I have a P-11, and think it is awesome, though still pi$$ed about the trigger.

The Mak is probably more robust and reliable, but it is considerable heavier, the sights suck, and the 9mm 9 x 19 is significantly more powerful than the Mak 9 x 18.

I really dig having 11 rounds in the P-11.

Get yourself a postal scale and start weighing loaded gun in holster combos. Then you can make an informed decision. In CCW, ounces matter in terms of all day wearing comfort.

Got 460 rounds thru my P-11. It bobbled once about round 50, no problemos since.

I must admit that I've got a P-32 thats gonna have to go back to Kel_tec.
