Keith bullets in the Rossi 92

I have three Rossi 92s, 357, 44, & 45 Colt. None will feed loads with a Keith type SWC. Can the Rossi be modified in some way to reliably feed this popular bullet style? TIA.
 
You might try trimming a few cases shorter. This tends to help the longer bullet profiles feed in lever action rifles. The guy at the range that actualy shoots 170 grain Kieth style bullets loads them in a .38 Spcl case. They are also too long to chamber in a .38 Spcl gun. They drop in my .357 Mag and stick out of the cylinder of my .38 spcl.
 
Keith bullets....

....are for revolvers. My Marlin 45 feeds Keiths alright but there is a much better bullet for the job. Use a RNFP bullet. The 45 caliber Lee 255 grain RNFP has a very large meplat and works perfectly well in both revolver and rifle. Of course, you have to cast them yourself; but they're worth it.
 
Thoughts on 250gr rnfp SNS bullets in .452? It's all I could find and that's what's going in my New Vaquero and Rossi 92 when it arrives.

I'm not sure what you mean. SNS? Could you elaborate? Are you wanting a load recommendation?
 
S n S cast bullets, just curious of people using them? There is limited info when I searched on this site about em. Just wondering if you had experience
 
Keith bullets function w/o any problem in my `92 (Chiappa) 357. But.... they will only do that in 38 Special case-lengths.

Load that 38 to whatever PLUS-P+ velocities the bullet material (the limiting factor) will stand and don't worry about it.
 
I shot nothing but Keith bullets in my Rossi 92 in .45 Colt. I handloaded for it, and the loading recipes I used specified crimping over the front driving band. It always fed them without a hitch. I never tried crimping them in the crimping groove; perhaps that's your problem.
 
Well, my R92 in 45 Colt now is feeding the Keith type bullets (crimped in the crimping groove) w/o problem. Funny thing about that carbine; before ever firing a shot, I dry fired it a couple times and the trigger broke ii two at the pivot pin. Five weeks later, back from Rossi, it functions ok. I'm still reduced to shooting 38 special in the 357 mag, and 44 special in the 44 mag, both with the Keith bullets. I guess I can live with that!
 
Oh, yeah, I forgot to say that I have ordered some RNFP bullets to try in place of the Keith type. Will let you know how they work. Seems to be a delay in delivery due to demand. Wonder what DHS has to do with that?
 
I shoot RNFP lead 250 grain in my revolver and my 92 Rossi 45 colt. Feeds fine in the rifle. I buy them from Crown Bullet out of Florida in 500 or 1000 count boxes.
 
I have an old model Rossi carbine in 45colt & it's never had a problem chambering anything.
The only complaints I have is the sights, I wish they had buckhorn's & with full power loads it kicks like 2 mules.
 
SWC in Rossi 92

I have had no problems loading 158 gr lead SWC of Keith design in either .357 or .38 special brass in my Rossie model 92. I seat the bullets in the lube groove for .38 cases to nearly duplicate the length of the .357 cartridge.
