Kahr Problems

This is my 4th Kahr, and it's the first one with problems, although they are major and pesistant. The other three were/are "all steel" and excellent quality indeed. I would have no hesitation purchasing another K or MK series, but I am QUITE disappointed that the lightweight polymer version is not proving so reliable.

Kahr

I'm sorry to hear of your problems. I just have to say that my Kahr MK9 has been nothing but PERFECT for me. No problems. Feeds anything I shove in it. Tight and just feels great. The Elite trigger helps a lot, and I'm getting tighter groups than with my full-size Beretta M92FS.

Clearly YMMV, but there are some good Kahrs out there:)

I see a definite trend here. Its seems that Kahr is unable to make a reliable polymer pistol, but the all steel predecessors function as intended. I wish they would admit this and make an attempt to fix the problems. I have still heard nothing from customer service. I just want my P 40 fixed so I can get rid of it.

Although I haven't put a thousand rounds through it yet, my P9 has functioned flawlessly and exhibited impressive accuracy with various shooters. Delivers as advertised. Only complaint is that the spare magazine was for a K40. No big deal (unless customer service fails to keep it that way).

Drundel,

read my last second to last post

I emailed Kahr on Monday, because I decided to get the piece of junk fixed, because I can't sell it in the current state and was a little inspired by this thread.

Anyway, I've been down the send it to Kahr and have it fixed road one time already. They took five weeks to fix it and didn't do anything, but squirt a little apoxy on the trigger pin. They obviously don't want to hear from me, as I have been as much of a thorn in their side as possible. They have yet to respond to emails and I've written the president, although we know what effect that will have. Its getting rather personal, but seriously I hope they have enough integrity to stand by there product and fix this one, at least then I wouldn't have to trash the name Kahr everytime I hear it for the rest of my life to every shooter I come in contact with.:(

Kahr Customer Service

Hello all;

My name is Michelle and I am in customer service for Kahr Firearms. I am reading here that some of you are not only unsatisfied with your pistol but with the service you are receiving. I want to apologize on behalf of Kahr. I would also like to ask that you contact me @ 508-795-3919. I will help you in whatever way I can. If I cannot be of assistance I assure you I will get the answers or transfer you to someone who can.

Thank You
Happy Shooting!

Kahrs

I have a K9 and have been very pleased with it. It was flawless during the recommended break-in and remains so. It is very encouraging to see that the Kahr CS rep is participating in this group and promising help to those that are disappointed or frustrated.
I will continue to be a loyal customer and user of Kahr products.
mac:)

If I was as happy with my P9 as I have been with my PERSONAL experience with Kahr Customer service, and with all my K and MK Kahrs, I'd be so DARNED happy I couldn't stand to LOOK at myself :)

Just wanted to say again, that although that my P9 has been a lemon, Kahr Customer Service has been a Peach! Michelle especially!

HEY BULLITT!

Did you get your P40 back from Kahr? Would love to hear an update from you!

I just found out that my P9 made it to the shop today, along with a very nice phone call from Michelle at Kahr telling me it was ready!

I won't be able to shoot it until at LEAST this weekend, but I'll let you know how it works when I do.

Onslaught,

I plan on mailing it today. I was just going to send it, do you think I should call Michelle first? or just mail it.

To answer my own question, I called Michelle, she was very pleasant, much better service than the first time. She said that they will probably have to replace my gun, because of all the problems. I guess we'll see. Thanks Onslaught for getting there attention. I will let you know what happens.

Looks like one has to call Michelle to get anything done at Kahr. I sent an e-mail to Kahr last thursday (Faye somebody, if I recall correctly) using an e-mail address from their site requesting information on any LE distributors in Georgia and LE pricing and I still haven't gotten a reply.

Looks like I may end up with another Glock for my ankle. I've never e-mailed or called Glock and had any trouble getting information or service from the first person I talked to/e-mailed. I haven't ruled Kahr out yet but I'm getting kind of skeptical about buying a Kahr for back-up.

I need a gun and a company that I can absolutely count on. I need to know that if something happened to Michelle I could still get my back-up gun serviced and returned as promptly as possible in the event that it needed anything. Just judging by this board, it isn't looking that way lately.:(

I may try sending one more e-mail before I give up on them. I haven't decided yet.

I just sent another e-mail inquiry to Kahr. I'll let you guys know if I get anything back this time. If not, I think I am going to X them off my list for a back-up gun.

We shall see how interested they are in getting a new customer...

Update...

I sent the second inquiry to Kahr this morning and got a reply around noon. The reply included an apology and contact info on two LE distributors that can assist me with the information I need, although neither is in Georgia. And, get this!! It wasn't from Michelle (ummm, unless she uses more than one e-mail address :D).

I was beginning to wonder if Kahr existed, or if Michelle made the guns, serviced them herself and personally answered all concerns from customers. :)

I'll give the two contacts a call this week and see if the LE pricing puts the Kahr closer to my price range. I have to buy my own back-up gun and I don't make a lot of money.:(

Here's a little update about my Kahr P 40. If you recall I was deadset against sending anything back to Kahr after the way I was treated with my first experience. After several replies, by Kahr, to this thread, I began to gain a little confidence in them and decided I would give them another chance. Here's how they have done so far.

I sent the pistol in on July 9th to arrive on the 10th. I overnighted it direct, because I live in a free state and have that right. They sent me a card saying they received it on 7/10. I anxiously awaited my pistol for two weeks, but to my dismay when 14 total days had passed, I still had no gun. I waited one more day and then gave them a call. On the 25 of July I called Michelle and she passed me through to a technician. He was nice and so was Michelle, but there was only one problem. After waiting for more than 5 minutes on hold the technician reported back saying he could not find my gun and would have to call me back. I was  to say the least. He came back several times saying he was still looking. Finally, he reported that it was found on the plant managers desk awaiting a decision of wherther to replace it or repair it. I then had to ask the tech when I would have it and he said possibly the middle of the next week, because there is a lot of paper work in replacing a gun.

Of course, I waited and waited and waited, but August 6 came and still I had no gun, so once again I called. I was greeted by a very nice lady, Michelle, I think, she put me through to another technician. He began to explain that the firearm had left the building on Friday August 3 for Fed EX overnight delivery. I did some checking and Fed Ex had already ran for the day, so I called back an got a tracking number. I was told at this point that the firearm had left Kahr on the 2nd of August, but someone screwed up and sent it ground. (Isn't that illegal?????) I then asked what had been done to this pistol and Michelle (I think) read me the technicians repair list. It seems they repaired the pistol with some polishing and deburring, reversed the trigger pin??, fired 5 mags without a failure and then packed it up for departure. I have been told my pistol will arrive on Wednesday the 8th and possibly before then. I will have another update once, I've had an oppurtunity to fire the pistol.

I have gotten positive polite feedback with every conversation, accept one email that no one replied too. However, as you can see they still seem to have some problems with customer service.
