Kahr owners...another question

Whatare your opinions on the P v. K models. Any drawbacks to the Polymer frame?

After all the reliability and trigger etc problems, my frame on my P 40 is now cracked. Kahr is finally replacing my gun.

Hey Ellery:
"COULD NOT get that trigger pin out (using a punch and proper technique)"

You must not have a P40, because all you gotta do is fire 50 or so rounds through it, and the trigger pin works it's own way out :D

Concensus...what's that?

Well, you are right...there has been absolutely NO concensus in here. Theonly thing that MOST of you have said is that the Kahr is a fairly good handgun for my desired use. I have seen all of them and handled all of them now, and I am leaning towards the K9 version. Personally the MK9 is just alittle too small and the weight difference really does not bother me. Actually the weight might be a plus for me...I am a decent shooter, but I tend to shoot heavier guns alittle more accurately...just my observation.

Now...onthe OPTIONS for a K9; I have seen pics of the K9 with all black, all stainless and I have seen some that are 2-tone -- black slide, stainless frame. What is this one? I have also heard alot of different answers re: the elite trigger. Is the MAIN difference on the Elite the trigger. I know that there is a "finish" difference and laser etching, but that's not a big deal to me. If I bought a K9 and had the "lighter" elite trigger put on it, would I basically have an Elite K9? Please advise. Also...anyone have a K9 (used or new) that they would like to sell me? :D

Please advise--Thanks for your input!

P40 problems?

I've got at least 200 rnds through my P40 covert with no malfunctions or tirgger pins "falling out"- really! I am interested in the amount of rounds before the frame cracked on other posters guns. What grain size were you shooting mostly? Where did you find the cracks? Did Kahr replace the original model or did you demand a full metal K40?

David:

Kahr's web site has some pretty good info about their models. They seem to be selling three K9 models right now, black, stainless, and stainless elite.

The web site gives a good description of the Elite trigger: "The trigger stroke has been reduced to 3/8" from 1/2" to provide faster firing. The shorter trigger also makes it faster to fire in critical defensive situations."

The only other differences are cosmetic. However, by the time you buy a Kahr K9 stainless, send it back to Kahr to be upgraded to the Elite trigger, pay for shipping etc., I suspect you'll probably have spent as much as it would cost to have purchased the K9 Stainless Elite in the first place. Unless you get the black model and install the trigger yourself, I don't think it would be worth it.
