Kahr 9mms

I've had a few, both steel framed and poly. The MK series were the best, the PM decent and the CM series the worst. That's speaking in terms of durability. I never had many issues with reliability but did find the polymer didn't hold up sp well on the PM and worse, the CM models.

I have 3 Kahr 9's as well as other calibers. I have PM-9, CM-9 and CT-9 and all 3 have been flawless! Your mileage may vary!

:confused::confused::confused:
Curious in the fact that double the $$$ for the PM is for the polygonal rifling, and more "refined", i.e. fancy machining. But the trigger, polymer frame, and magazine are all the same.

You will either love or hate the long, smooth, moderately heavy trigger pull. From forum reports, 80% of Kahr handguns are reliable. I have the CM9, CW9, and two CT9’s. They serve as pocket carry, waistband carry, night stand, and travel guns for my car. Mine are reliable. Obviously, I’m in the group that likes the triggers.

The one gun that I sold/traded that I greatly regret getting rid of is the Kahr MK9. Not sure why I let that one go. I've had 5 Kahrs and and all went bang/reload every time.

The Kahr T9 (Kahr’s full size Steel 9mm) is one of my favorite carry guns. Slim, fits my hand like a glove. I broke it in, the recommended 250 rounds. No problems.
I’ve heard they only make them in batches, so they are hard to find. But if you find a new one, buy it. It’s a nice slim 9 round full size pistol.

Seems like there is enough negative feedback to skip it and look at something else.

I have a Walther PPS M2 and love it.

Kahr pistols

I bought a Kahr P9 in 9mm right after they came out in the spring of 2000.

I bought a used Kahr K9 from a friend in 2010. (I’m at least the 3rd owner. The K9 has the Birdsong Black-Teflon finish and XS big dot night sights)

I bought a used Kahr T9 from a different friend in 2012. This particular gun had very few rounds through it. (He bought the gun for his wife, who really wasn’t interested, and they they got divorced and he didn’t want to keep the gun because he was afraid it had crazy on it. It seems okay to me)

I've fired all three guns a lot without any problems (particularly the original P9) (I usually run about 500 rnds a year through each gun). A few years ago I standardized on the Glock 43 for off duty carry, so I haven’t carried any of the Kahr pistols “for real” since.

The Kahr trigger stroke is a little weird and some people really don’t like it. I was able to adjust to the trigger stroke without any problems. There is no sear reset, and that drives some people crazy. The trigger reminds me of a stock Smith & Wesson M&P pistol.

I like the Kahr pistols for concealment purposes because they're THIN. I have big hands and long fingers. Oddly enough, the Kahr K9 or P9 feels MUCH better in my hand than a Glock 26 or 27. YMMV

Anecdotal evidence would suggest that Kahr pistols in calibers other than 9mm or in the smaller frame sizes sometimes have functioning and reliability issues.

I have a friend who bought a very slightly used Kahr CW9 and he had problems with it malfunctioning – oftentimes the slide would not go fully into battery. He took it to a gunsmith a few times and tried other springs and nothing worked.

I finally borrowed it and put 600 rnds of NATO spec 9mm ball through it, and the problem went away. The gun just needed to be broken in a little. I DID find that the gun worked better initially if I loaded the 7 round magazines with only 6 rounds to begin with. The spring tension was very high and I suspect it was impeding slide travel, causing the failure to go into battery.

Research on several forums devoted to the Kahr pistols revealed that this was a common problem. I did not experience such problem with my new P9 or the other used guns I bought.

I’ve put more than 3K rounds through my PPS-M2 in the 2 years I’ve owned it. This gun is a really great shooter and it carries well in every holster I’ve tried it with, and it works great in a belly band that I’ve tried it with!

3000 rounds? That is a lot of magazine loading.

Except that the only similarity is they are both striker fired. Other than that they aren't anything alike!
Actually the Kahr was developed on the Glock platform. Do some research and you will find many similarities. Read the history of the Kahr. I believe you can do this on their website.

Actually I really want a Kahr CM9mm. Have been shooting the LC9's since they came out, but live the size of the Kahr. I own a Kahr CW380 a few hiccups along the way but running great now. I do not love it as much as my two Pico's but still a nice firearm.

I've never owned a Kahr, but I'd like to learn more about them. Looking at the P9 and the CW9, they might be just about right for carry. Large enough to shoot well, small enough to conceal . . . .

This about sums it up for a CW9 as a carry piece. It is VERY easy to conceal even OTWB, but if you wear it IWB no one will ever notice it even if they were looking for it. Yet, you can get all fingers on the grip and recoil is manageable.

That was my thought when I selected the CW9/P9 pistol for carry. You can tell you're holding a single stack due to the smaller grip circumference, but you don't have the feeling of trying to hold onto something tiny. It fills my hand without having fingers hang off the grip and without having to adjust my grip like I would have to with a smaller gun. Doesn't hurt that the extra grip length provides another round.

It is pretty much my bottom limit in terms of size/weight for a 9mm pistol.
