K 9 Recoil?

I was thinking about getting a Kahr K9. The guy said they don't stock em because they have so much recoil and hurt your hand. He recommended a Glock 19. Was he just feeding me a line or what? I'd appreciate any K9 owners feedback on this.

BULL$#I!!

That guy is yanking your chain!!! Even the little MK9 has fairly average recoil... certainly not "unbearable" by any means. My slim handed, weak wristed, not at all strong wife shoots an MK9 without any problems whatsoever. He just didn't have one, and wanted you to buy from stock on hand. Go somewhere else and buy what you want!

PS - Even the Kahr MK40 recoil is manageable. So far, the P40 is the only Kahr with what I'd call "stout" recoil, and even it's not unbearable for 50 rounds at the range.

He!!, ask him how it is possible that a pistol with CUSHY RUBBER GRIPS on a STEEL framed pistol that weighs MORE than the Glock and functions mechanically similarly can have more recoil than the Glock?

RIDICULOUS!!!

P.S.... Welcome to TFL :)

I don't have a K9, but I do have a P9, which is considerably lighter. Recoil on the P9 is very manageable, and feels much lighter than on a .380 I used to have which was a bit smaller, but heavier.

For comparison, it is somewhere between that of my full-sized Ruger 9mm, and my compact 1911. Both of these guns are over 30oz, while the Kahr weighs in at more like 16.

I have both a P9 and a Glock 19. Both are very easy to shot. The only time the recoil on the P9 gets intense is when you shoot +P loads. But even then it's still manageable.

That dealer was simply trying to get you to buy a Glock. Not a bad choice either way, but the P9/K9 is a lot easier to conceal.

The guy is a complete yutz.

I have a K9, and I can only describe the recoil as being very mild, even with +P ammo.

The K9 is small, but HEAVY. The grip is also, for me at least, VERY well designed.

Ask the guy if he moonlights as an interior decorator or full-time show tunes critic... :D

The Kahr K9 is remarkably pleasant to shoot. I was very impressed.

My K9 stainless is small, heavy for its size, and has very little recoil for a small gun. The recoil is extemely manageable even in rapid fire and double-tapping. I just love that little gun. :D

Wecome to B*llsh*t central...:D
I have a K40 that my 8 year old shoots......all 60 pounds of him.
I do believe you are bigger than he is and the 9 recoils quite a bit less.
I would get you new shiny Kahr and go show your dealer (ex) the sale he lost...."because you full of sh*t!" I cant believe some people....
Good luck and Shoot well

I'll agree with all the previous posts. My K9 is a pussycat in the recoil department and recoil with my recently acquired P9 Covert is only marginally more than the K9.
Outstanding ergonomics along with a low bore axis contribute to the Kahr's lighter than expected recoil.

What recoil?

I have a K9 and a MK9 and neither have any noticeable recoil. The 9mm is barely capable of producing any recoil, especially out of an all steel gun. Both are easily controlable in rapid fire. I hate gun shop liars! Opinions are fine but clarify them as such. Don't out and out lie or state your opinions as gospel.

Just a thought...go back in this "gun store" for the lack of a better term and see if they have any snubbie 357's. If so, ask this gun shop commando to explain to you how these have less recoil than a K9...could be interesting.
shoot well

WHAT RECOIL!!!!!

I have one and it is every bit as pleasant to shoot as my G17. He was covering his backside because he didn't have what you want. Go somewhere else. My dealer knows this much: Don't have it? Fine, say so, but don't BS me or I'll deal with somebody else. You want something that hurts, try my Guardian .380 and fifty rounds of Corbon .380. That little cuss drives the gun butt right back into the center of my palm and within 25 rounds, I'm switching to my other gun. Or a Taurus 85TI with +P loads. I could shoot either of my Kahrs (K9 or MK9) all day and not even tire of it.

I think the guy hurt his hand...

pulling on something else. :D

My Kahr K9 has been a total delight to shoot, even with +P ammo.

The guy who said this was a PUTZ...
NO 9mm PISTOL HAS ANY RECOIL WORTH MENTIONING!

My Kahr MK9 is easy to shoot one-handed with my weak hand, using NATO spec 9mm ball. I was just doing so last weekend.

I think you'll like the Kahr K9. They're well made pistols. Best.

That dealer was full of @#$t. The K9 is a all steel gun.Additionally the 9mm is a very easy shooting round.Get the K9 you will not be dissappointed. I love mine. The only thing I disliked was the black matte finis,so I had mine hard chromed.

My Kahr K40 is uncomfortable to shoot. But my K9 is a pussycat -- very little recoil. Even the MK9 doesn't have much recoil.

Tell the idiot that a fully loaded K-9 weighs 32 ounces!

This instructor bought one several years ago, based not only on the fact that Kahr had began to develop an excellent reputation, but that the K-9 was to be used for training and testing with novice shooters. Design and weight of K-9 have made it the "go to" gun for women with small hands. Have seen some minor "bites" of webbing with their polymer guns, but no probs with smoother grip areas of steel frame Kahrs, either mine or several that students have purchased after shooting one during training.

Yours sounds like another case of a dealer wanting to move what was in stock rather than what you might want ...
